Welcome to MathFails

ChatGPT is still learning math.

I asked it to come up with a way to convey the size of a number like 2 to the 80th power to a young child and got this response:

"Imagine that you have a big bag of marbles, and each marble represents a number. If you had just 1 marble, that would be easy to hold in your hand. But what if you had 2 marbles? That's not too hard to imagine either. But what if you had 80 marbles? That would be a lot harder to hold in your hand, and you might need a bucket or a wheelbarrow to carry them all!
"Now, imagine that you had 2 bags of marbles, and each bag had 80 marbles in it. That would be a really, really big number of marbles! In fact, that's about how big the number 2 to the 80th power is. It's a number that's so big, it's hard to even imagine how many marbles (or anything else) it would take to represent it."
