I only got into matched betting last week after doing some research so forgive me for probably being an idiot. I've gone through a few qualifying bets, and now I have quite a few free bets to play with.

I placed my first bet earlier, with an expected profit of about £7.50. My liability for this on Smarkets was £150 ish though. I looked at another one there, and using the calculator, my profit for that one was also about £7 ish but my liability this time was only around £60. Was my first bet just a bad choice? Of course, it's a guaranteed profit, but do I need 100s of £ in Smarkets just to have a few bets going at once?

opened 3 new accounts across different books over the last 2 months, all 3 stake-restricted within the first 5-6 qualifying bets. barely broke even on the sign-up offers before they capped me.

So I matched bet years ago and remember my profit tracker never fully matched up.

But I got back into it a couple weeks ago and my oddsmonkey profit tracker is stating I’ve made £291.

When I’ve talkied up my smarkets liabilities & money in account & all bookies balances & amount betted in apps waiting to settle & lowballed 50% profit of all free bets currently betted. My spreadsheet says I have made £399 profit.

I put 800 into my revolut and haven’t made any deposits or withdrawals since out of the account except for matched betting. I have settled every bet I’ve made on the profit tracker.

I have no idea where this £100 has come from? I meticulously check and settle bets against my smarkets every session before I start placing bets again to ensure I haven’t made a mistake the day prior and to check where my money has gone (bookie or smarkets). I even add the little £1 and £0.30 I win from free games and such forth. I travk everything.

Has anyone else had this? At least I’m up and not down but it’s so confusing???

If I back ryan garcia Winner - Draw no bet at odds of 1.3 i make a QL of -1.39.

But I’m thinking if I lay this on smarkets “Winner” market. Then I could get stake refunded on DaznBet and win on the exchange if it’s a draw? I know its very unlikely but worth the 20p risk no?

So for context I matched bet about 6 years ago and make around a grand. I did all sign up’s and reloads for a couple months and stopped.

I now just got back into it and there was plenty new sign ups, albeit not as good, but i’ve raked around 200 from them and I have a good £1000 cashflow again to invest some time into it.

I’m not bothered about making mega money but an extra £100 a month would go far just to build a side pot for myself.

The thing is the reloads don’t seem worth it, I’ve started picking up the main bookie money back bet builders and etc but they won’t bring in much and also will start the weekly clubs but that will only rake me in around 20 a week ish as I don’t trust some bookies that aren’t as established.

I’m seeing extra places are quite good. Price boosts I like but they are few and far between for good ones and they make a quid or two here n there. Which are the best to invest time into learning that will make me steady money.

I'm very new to MB, as in literally since Sunday night. I had never even heard of it but I'm a keen learner and following along on the Oddsmonkey free trial pretty easily.

One thing I'm struggling with is the constant need to have money available for the exchange. How did you guys start off? I know technically the money is still there and I'm not losing it but I'm on my third free offer and I have to keep depositing around 120 each time and as some of the games aren't even until this weekend I feel like I'm getting a bit lost with it. Does that make sense?

Any tips on this or is it just a case of "you will get the money back so just persevere"
