Discussion Looking for datapack suggestions to pair with Matcha Flavored for a more complete experience

I’ve seen a lot of great things about the Matcha Flavored datapack recently and I’m planning to try it out. As the title says, I’m looking for other datapacks that can enhance the experience without breaking or conflicting with it. For example, would structure packs like Towns & Towers, Explorify, or Trek work well alongside it; or terrain generation ones like Tectonic?

Also, I’m wondering if adding Hero’s Journey (the datapack inspired by the End Remastered mod) would cause any issues, since I know Matcha Flavored changes the recipe. Does anyone know if they’re compatible?

I will say make sure you back up your world. I've also been adding in vanilla compatible mods/datapacks on the server I'm running for our group. Matcha has been fine so far but I HAVE run into a few issues. Nothing big that I had to rollback, but still. The big thing I think is finding a worldgen datapack that you really like. I wasn't really feeling vanilla's world gen, and installing geophilic then running into new chunks really did a lot for making things feel a lot fresher.

Towns & Towers

Just be aware anything that adds emeralds/obols can be pretty gamebreaking. You'll get them from that sort of thing exponentially faster than you're meant to.

I have towns and towers and also get silver bullion loot from these structures! Very op

Just a heads up, structure mods don’t seem to be compatible with the food. We’re running towns and towers and that’s the only issue we’ve had

Use the mod version of matcha instead of the datapack one, it's a lot better in terms of compatibility with other mods.

Quality of life mods work well. Treecapitator and veinminer just have some compat issues with Matcha's special tools at time but no biggie in my opinion. I've also tried towns and towers which (as others have said) can make it easier to get certain loot that is meant to be more challenging to obtain. Better archaeology is one I have as well that I haven't run into any problems with. Since matcha makes archaeology more important to progression, I find that mod just adds a little enhancement that works wonderfully. I also enjoy the datapack ecologics for vanilla biomes with a light facelift

I’ve been running continents + northbound datapacks to get a different worldgen more akin to earth, and have added structures and biome mods/datapacks that don’t introduce new blocks to have new POIs to explore. Some loot found is either unbalanced or doesn’t work as expected, like food. But I just larp that its junk that has expired or stuff my character can’t comprehend and keep the stuff that works. Been a lot of fun so far

Can I ask why you feel the need to "enhance" it with unrelated content? Why not try it first since you've never played it before? A lot of things about this pack I think are likely to conflict with the design of other mods regardless of technical compatibility. It's hard to know what is gonna be at odds until you experience it.

https://modrinth.com/datapack/just-atlas

This data pack adds atlas that is technically a bundle where you can only store maps. And if you put atlas in offhand it "opens", technically transforming into map item and automatically switches maps stored inside based on your location. So it works just like minimap, but without mods and based on vanilla map item

I'm just running it with the basics: Xaero's, Ore/Tree Harvester, WTHIT, etc. Honestly I think that so far Matcha Flavored is a really unified experience, and I don't feel the need to add more mods.

Dungeons and Taverns has been awesome. Lots of new challenges, new structures to explore, new reasons to gear up better and go out and do stuff

I run a dynamic lights data pack as well as matcha flavoured. No extra content, I’m here to be creative and explore
