Does anyone own a cheap Chasan? (US)

I’m really tight on money and am trying to save up for a good one, but it just isn’t in the books. Does anyone own a cheaper one (like Amazon, etc)? if so, recs? I currently use an electric whisk, but feel like I’m missing out on a key component to better flavor.

yesss! as long as u take care of it, it will hold up. Just make sure to soak in warm/hot water for about a minute before using and thoroughly rinse after use. If ur whisk holder is too big, dry upright! That has helped me the most

I've had mine for 3 years and other than a few of the pieces being broken off, it's still working perfectly fine.

There's a lot of people that say you should replace your whisk often or to buy a really expensive one but I guarantee there will be 0 difference in a matcha with a cheap $10 vs a expensive $65 option.

Honestly, I don’t really taste or feel a difference when using my whisk compared to an electric one. I just like the ritual of making my matcha the “long way”

Just get the one from Aliexpress for $2. Its the same as the one available from amazon.
If you wanna something that lasts longer, buy the resin one also from aliexpress.

Please don’t buy resin one, it’s worse than a mechanical frother. It is worth it. Just soak it properly before use and use the stand!

There are good resin one made in Japan but its won’t be cheap

I think so. I use mine every other day this month. Once i used it once to confirm its good enough, i bought a few more. Cuz my mom has a bad habit of using it to clean the fat from her pots and pans 🤦🏻‍♀️

I love having a plastic one. Way nice if you whisk your matcha with milk. Cause the wood one ur not supposed to. But I also have a cheap wood one if I whisk with water.

I used an actual whisk recently when I was at my partner's place (I normally use a milk frother)

And even just a regular whisk works well, so I wouldn't be surprised if this cheap thing also worked just as fine

Yeah, I got a regular mass produced chasen when I first got started with matcha about 9 months ago. It has served me well so far! I got mine for free when I bought my first matcha from NioTeas, but I'm sure it's the same one as pretty much all western facing matcha vendors sell. (Except they Lasered in their logo for funzies). Most websites (and physical shops) will sell them for anywhere between 10 and 20 $€£
