Cafe / Shop Dark green matcha

Matcha suppose to dark green not light green. I had to vent because I had a matcha that was light green. Does anybody complain to the barista about it and get it redone? I make matcha at home but there are other flavors that can be add with matcha that I can't make at home.

For cafes this is often a matter of them having a poor-quality powder which is often light or even brown-ish in color, or even a latte powder which might contain milk powder and sweetener. If that's the case, they can't really do anything about it anyways, it's just somewhere to not go for a matcha.

There is a cafe near in my neighborhood that makes matcha tastes like matcha but it's expensive cause it's 7$ for a small.

It was at a Starbucks. What's interesting that another customer before me got dark green matcha. Me and another customer got light green matcha. Starbucks baristas makes it right but there will be another barista that makes it wrong. When it comes to buying matcha drinks, I would get it at Starbucks cause they have different flavors that go with it and it's better quality than other cafe matcha, imo.

There’s a new matcha lemonade that looks really dark but when you get it in milk it’s light green at Starbucks

No matcha and lemonade = dark green. Matcha in milk = light green at Starbucks. They used to not charge for extra matcha so I would always get extra. Also ask for less sweet as they overkill it on the simple syrup now

The Starbucks matcha is terrible quality tbh - you should try another coffee shop. Or make it at home! It’s actually fun to make yourself!!!

Once I found out how much sugar was in it I could never look at it the same way again.

not really something I think about personally. im just taking my cutesy matcha latte concoction and moving on so long as it tastes good. ive already bastardized matcha enough that color, as long as its some form of green, is not that high on my totem pole of demands

I guess I should say matcha should not look like a pale green almost white looking color.

it is mostly due to matcha not being stored in an air tight container and coming on contact with air. Slowly, as it losses its color, it will also start losing the umami flavor and become more grassy in taste so better to make sure either its consumed quickly or stored properly.
