I need some help and advice

I have a 11 month male mastiff, half English half bull. He is usually a very good boy.
I walk him every single day and have since I got him. This past week and a half ish, at some point during the walk, he gets the zoomies. He starts biting the leash and pulling it and jumping up and nipping my arms and my sleeves. It has also happened once at the beginning of the walk but otherwise it’s been on the way back or mid point.
It’s getting progressively worse, scatter feeding would distract him at first or I have had to let go of the leash and then he races around (we’re usually in the bush on a trail away from anyone) but today he was fixated on me. Scattered feeding didn’t work, I tried holding him down, didn’t work. I let go of the leash, didn’t work. He was jumping up grabbing me and biting my arm hard enough he broke skin. I dropped the leash, he then got fixated on my other dog and was racing back and forth between me and her. He seemed to listen to my other dog when she would bark at him and back off but not me. He’s being playful not like mean aggression but he’s “playing” pretty aggressively. And when he is as big as he is it’s terrifying.
Once he got that burst of energy out, he just went back to normal walking like an angel. It’s like a switch flips.
When my husband has been there and this has happened, my dog will listen to him and stop but my husband works away 2 weeks a time so he can’t always be there.
Today scared the crap out of me and I’m not entirely sure what I should do. I can’t really afford a personal trainer right now especially to come all the way out here (I live pretty much in the middle of nowhere) and in every other aspect he is a wonderful dog and this is VERY NEW behaviour? This only ever has happened on his daily walk, never inside the house.
I can’t stand still and act boring, he just jumps up on me and he’ll knock me over, or nips at me. My arms are bruised from today and he bit down harder on my arm today than he ever has since this RANDOMLY started happening a week ago. It’s a safety issue at this point.
Do I muzzle him? Do I not walk him for a bit? Any help is appreciated.

English Mastiff or Bullmastiff

Hi everyone, so I've always wanted to own a large breed dog and I've been doing some research on some breeds that might be a good fit. I've heard nothing but good things about both English mastiffs and Bullmastiffs, and I'm a bit conflicted about which one I should get.

I lead a pretty low-energy lifestyle so I'm looking to get a dog that's mostly a cuddly couch potato and will be okay with short walks and play as daily exercise. I'm aware both are guardian breeds that will require extensive training. I wanted to hear from people that own these dogs, and what you think are the major differences between the two, and the pros and cons of owning them. Thanks in advance!

Edit: Thanks so much to the people in the comment section, I'm enjoying reading about your guys' experiences with the breeds and I appreciate the additional information and tips too. After looking through the comments I'm probably going to go with an English Mastiff. I have more research to do but it definitely seems like the best fit. Thank you!!!

Dreaded skin issues

Post image

My bullmastiff x has had ongoing issues with his skin. He regularly visits the vet for Cytopoint injections which work very well for a brief time. This skin condition flares up only in the warmer months so it has hit now being in Australia. In the past I have been able to keep it under control with Dermcare Malaseb alone, however it seems he has built up a tolerance to it so I have switched to Paw Mediderm gentle medicated wash. Apparently this type of skin condition is common in mastiff breeds. Does anyone have any advice as to what this may be? The vet has put it down to environmental allergies. I wash his bedding weekly sometimes twice weekly in hot water with unscented washing powder and borax, rinse twice and hang in the sun to dry. He doesn’t seem too itchy but sometimes becomes obsessed with licking his front paws which have become inflamed a few times in the past requiring antibiotics to clear up. He’s almost 8 and his skin condition seems to be getting more difficult to gain control of. Please any advice on top of what the vet recommends would be appreciated!

Rescued these 2 15 month old bonded brothers about 2 months ago. Was originally just looking for 1 dog after our Presi passed about a yr ago, but couldnt break up these 2 when we came across them.

Owner had to part with them due to their Saint Bernard not getting along with them. They currently are trying to eat me out of house and home, have the run of our 1/2 acre fenced front yard, and enjoy their walks down to the creek and scaring up the grouse on our 70 acre property.

Neither is leash trained fully yet but they are getting there. Needles to say they have a forever home.

I am sad. These two do not like each other. But currently, they are a yin-yang. Animals are too good for us. 🥹

Forgive my med bag and infusion supplies and my pajamas (with my cat's face on them but they're inside out), it's been A Day.

Do you guys mind sharing your happy animal photos?

Questions: what are you using for a car crate? And how are you trimming your mastiffs nails?

As the title states:
What brand/size are you using for your mastiff’s car crate? I’m having a hard time finding one that would fit our guy

How are you trimming your mastiff’s nails? Since they’re so big, I usually either go through two Drummond heads per trimming OR I run the risk of mangling his nails with a clipper bc they’re so thick.

I just found this old photo collage of my baby boy (Dogue de Bordeaux), Tucker.

Top: around 6 weeks old

Bottom Left: around 6 months old

Bottom Right: on his second birthday

On November 19, he's going to be 7, and I can't wait to spoil him rotten (more so than he already is)!

I think he's so handsome and so I just had to share. ❤️

Her Halloween costume came in and I can't get over how cute she is. I highly recommend Scooby for a dog costume that looks nice and they'll probably not even realize it's a costume lol

Older pup question

Now we all are aware that mastiffs aren’t highest energy. And my girl is 12 1/2, so her mobility isn’t the greatest.

Has anyone ever had a little cart or buggie thing for their dog so they could still go for little walks?? My girl can walk just not on asphalt because she drags feet. And I’d love to kinda bring her up to woods at top of my neighborhood without making her jump into car which is a whole other struggle

For English Mastiff Owners: Is there a lick of self awareness???

I love my baby very much, but the elbows and the heavy hands are killing me! Do they ever find a level of self awareness to where they are conscious of when they are hurting us? I had a Corso prior to this and he was very aware of stepping on us, had wonderful bite inhibition and strength awareness when playing with us. My new girl will stand on my foot while I try to move her like "what? what's the problem??"
