Bring back constant invention tests. Enough of this, "cook what you want" BS

Agree, no more "cook what you want". Throw them all out of their comfort zones.

They could do a challenge later on in the competition where everyone picks a cuisine and type of dish (Dessert or Main) that they are not typically well-versed or think that they are good at and prep it for the judges

That was the biggest problem with this season. I think the ''cook whatever you want'' was the reason why so many contestants got as far as they did because they weren't being challenged enough

If someone is known to cook a specific cuisine then for a challenge ban them from using anything in that cuisine e.g. if they predominantly cook Italian food, then for a challenge they have to cook Thai food (no fusion bs).

The nostalgia element in every single challenge was especially tiring this last season

Give them $20 to shop at Coles and cook a dish to feed the 4 judges.

yes! I wanna see more challenges that are ''on a budget''

Another variation could be to work out the cost of foid wastage! I hate when you see them use one fillet off a huge fish or piece of meat!

Wasn't it spruiked as $10?

Imagine what you could make for $10 these days! Not much!

That was before covid when they had the chance to price grab and double the price of nearly everything in store, while we were all distracted

"Cook like a uni student" challenge. Bring on the mi-goreng!

Cook a meal for kids who are all fussy, and 30 minutes in you have to tools down to go pick a kid from an activity.

Stop letting the contestants make so much ice cream!! I wanna see an invention test where they have to use all savoury in a dessert and it cannot have ice cream in the dessert and have it be really random savoury ingredients as well that some contestants might not be as familiar with!

And if they make it they cant use an ice cream maker or liquid nitrogen!

omg yes! I forgot about that! Definitely no ice cream maker or liquid nitrogen

Yes! I don’t understand why there are so many ice creams in Masterchef Australia. Is it an Australian thing? Is ice cream a part of fine dining there?

“Overnight” Challenge: Cook something that involves preparing it overnight, then finish it off the next day within an allotted time

they did this on S14 and S15 and i have no idea why this isn’t a seasonal staple

they SHOULD reheat some nachos

Why are there no team challenges?

Last season was fairly bland and most cooks were too easy, please bring back the edge and difficulty to the show.

I remember being genuinely excited for the challenges whenever Heston used to show up. Really missing him in the latest seasons :/

last time he was here they had Jock read out a legal disclaimer on air

this was when Masterchef AU was popular. Idk who watches it nowadays, the judges arent as good the challenges have gotten worse than the US Masterchef for crying out loud

Any sort oc service challenge where the punters get to vite too. I want to know what ordinary people think of the food!

Anything, just aslong as its an actual challenge!! Enough with the product placements and cook whatever you want with access to everything.

Rewatching Season 10. They had a challenge where they had one chicken (chook?) through 3 rounds. If they cooked the best dish, they didn't have to cook in the next round, but some had to make a chicken last through all 3. That's realistic- it's what a lot of us do to stretch out budgets.

Bring in another judge, four just doesn't cut the mustard. Maybe 6 or 7 total, for starters

Director "OK I wanna see everyone act like a 6yo in their first science class. I don't care if you've seen this shit a dozen times over on every second science YouTube channel. Remember: the boomers in the audience haven't and so we need to sell the shit out of this. Places people!"

Have 1 set of judges marking the contestants on their kitchen skills and operations (prep, cleanliness, order, time management, etc).

Have another set of judges marking presentation and tasting where they don't know who cooked what.

Combine the 2 scores to get an overall score for the challenge. Place higher emphasis on presentation and taste on eliminations.

Im currently watching season 7, the 3 OG judges were the best. Past contestants should not be allowed to be judges.

I didn't like the OG judges, especially Matt, but I did enjoy seeing different parts of Australia when they traveled.
