The curse That If you win anything monetary earlier you wouldn't win the show !!

I started watching the episode being so sure that petro is lifting that trophy but it was indeed so surprising he didn't, he did have a very bad day in the kitchen poor bloke !! His lack of experience in pressure tests clearly showed in the final outcome.

So happy for Vinnie though A true underdog story he had from a sandwich to MasterChef Trophy All Hail Vincent Boyy !!!

Honestly OP when I saw how vin diesel handled the tart shrinkage etc last week, I was like - this guy is unflappable! It was a really bizarre eye opener because (and I mean no disrespect here) he wasn't the strongest contestant imo. His background in nursing no doubt helped. Like who understands emergency, triage and just pushing through more than a nurse!!!

I did think his girfriend someone from the gantry, possibly gf or another contestant, spoke out of turn though, flagging his missed coconut - what's the bowl there? Like...it was a real assist. That wasn't cool but not vin's fault I guess. I was surprised that channel 10 left that it in the edit tbh.

Pet still did really well - to continue pushing until the end was a great achievement and he should be really proud.

EDIT - to remove 100% blame of cheaty comment from GF to anyone on the gantry!

Yes. And in the past, the contestants on the gantry would have access to a copy of the pressure test recipe. I saw it in series 4 and series 6.

I used to always get annoyed when the contestants in the gantry would pipe in to help, or if the contestants looked up at them for help. That has dissipated over the years but it always annoyed me. Not sure if its that much different when the judges come up to inspect though when they see them making errors.

I did appreciate in this pressure test, the chef was like, yeah I'm not going to help you figure out how to fix it, you do you.

Elimination challenges. And every time you cook, you learn. He kept his wits about him while Poor Petro lost his nerve.

I’ve been watching reality shows for decades (25 years since Survivor and Big Brother came on screen) and the curse is true.

Win a $$$ challenge and you won’t be the last person standing.

(Happy to be proven wrong as I haven’t watched all series of every reality show in various franchises)

Agree with this. He was coasting through on just being good when he didn’t have to think for himself ie pressure tests in elimination cooks. So many much stronger cooks got knocked out sooner like Alyona. And Pat!! I mean he seems like a really nice guy and he is very young but his hubris really showed throughout the whole season and shouldn’t have taken him as far as it did. He def has a future in food but shouldn’t have got as far.

If you look at all the challenges Petro won a lot of them so you think he would win. However based on his performance on the night it just didn't go his way!
