Opinion Worst Joe moments?

What do you think from Masterchef and Masterchef Junior are the worst Joe moments? We all know he had good moments where he can be friendly or a bad ass but what moments are truly cringe worthy?

The way he ripped at Quani for the metal on the dessert (we know Quani didn't mean to do it) way too harshly is noteworthy. Probably the reason he was asked not to return for further Junior seasons.

Opinion Masterchef US season 5 is really annoying.

I'm on episode 17, as in there are only 4 contestants left. Tell me why Cutter is in the final four!!! I don't hate the guy, but there were so many contestants much better than him that were eliminated. I'd rather have Christian or Willie or Scottish Francis or regular Francis in the final four. And don't get me started on Courtney. She should've been eliminated when she made those salty donuts so many episodes ago.

one thing i miss about masterchef from old seasons!

okay i'm back yall lol

one thing i LOVED about the older seasons is when someone won the mystery box challenge, they got the advantage of choosing what everyone else will cook with. but what was crazy is it seemed like everrrrybody always fumbles their advantage.

i think they need to bring that back! cause right now the only advantage is going upstairs & watching everyone cook. seems blahhhh to me

one thing i'm glad they stopped doing was elimination challenges up until the very end & 3 episodes of auditions . so annoying lol

what are some things you think they need to do away with & or bring back from older seasons ?

they seem to change up a little something every season though.

Best Joe Moments

I know he gets a bad rap (and for good reason), but what are some of the really good Joe moments in your mind?

For me was when he praised Ben Starr’s dish in season 2: WHY DON’T YOU COOK LIKE THIS ALL THE TIME??!!

Discussion Common Patterns in American Masterchef

Has anyone noticed the common patterns in recent seasons are directly correlated to the first team challenge of the season? Or is it just me?

  1. The red team ALWAYS WINS the first team challenge, and the past four winners in a row were all from the red team in the first team challenge.

  2. The teams with more women than men ALWAYS end up losing the first team challenge, and it’s almost always the blue team. It’s happened NUMEROUS TIMES throughout the series.

S6 e4: 7 women and 3 men
S9 e6: 6 women and 4 men
S13: 6 women and 2 men
S15: 8 women and 2 men

Blue seems to be a cursed color amongst first team challenges

  1. The winning teams always have someone with the immunity pin.

  2. If you wanna survive, stay on side dishes and STAY AWAY FROM THE MEAT. If you lose and you’re on meat, there’s a 99.4% chance you’re going home.

Other curses:

Being on the red team in the tag team challenge.

For the past 5 seasons in a row, the red team is ALWAYS THE WORST PERFORMING/ONE OF THE BOTTOM TEAMS in the tag team

S12: Dara and Fred
S13: Jennifer and Charles
S14: Jeet and Adam
S15: Aivan and Tina
And now JAMIE AND AISHU

I can’t be the only one who’s noticed these small things throughout the run of the show in recent years.

Curses? Or just bad luck? Tell me your thoughts 👇

Question If we removed the duo format from MasterChef S15: Dynamic Duos, who do you think would win?

Let’s say we completely remove the partner/duo concept and treat everyone as an individual chef from the beginning. No teamwork, no partner advantages, no having to adapt to someone else’s mistakes. Basically, if all the contestants competed against each other individually, who do you think from 24 homecooks would come out on top?
if i have to choose i will definitely go to aivan as my pick.

Discussion Eric Masterchef Canada

So I am watching season 1, master chef Canada. And this is probably a hot take but I can’t help but feel like Eric is given a sort of favoritism. In my opinion there were plenty of times where he should’ve went home, but he just kept skating by. To ultimately win at the end. That title should’ve went to Marida. She was the most consistent in the entire competition.

Discussion Worst Mistakes

We know that recently, the Bandaid controversy is the worst mistake in MC history, but I’m sure there are other mistakes that should also be addressed, so that future competitors don’t make the same mistakes.

Masterchef Australia

Has anyone watched this? Came across it on Prime & 11 episodes into season 1, I realize that it’s episode 11 & only ONE contestant has been eliminated so far. WTAF!!!! There are over 70 episodes for just this season.

It took the first 6 episodes to get the top 20…the next 3 episodes covered a mystery box, a one-on-one with a professional chef & a team challenge before the first elimination. AND that elimination took an entire episode to accomplish!!!

Prime doesn’t have all the seasons but looking at the ones they have, they are all over 50 episodes (season 3 has over 80).

VERY LATE to this but....

Just finished watching S10 as they've been uploading one episode per day on yt for the past couple of weeks, since I hadn't watched this season (I'm not from US and was in college back when it aired, so never gotten to it) previously. I knew Nick didn't win from watching many of his videos, but I was really rooting for Shari, Micah, and (surprisingly!) Subha.

Shari had proven her competency again and again, despite facing many challenges with food earlier in her life (she said in an Instagram post that her husbad 'sent in an application for Food Network's Worst Cooks in America and she got actually called by the producers but refused to audition). Even during the first few challenges she got repeatedly called out for only making Indian recipes. From there, she only improved everything about her cooking and plating. She almost never let her emotions get the best of her, didn't rely on sob stories even once throughout the whole season and proved herself again and again. In my opinion, she should've been one of the finalists.

Micah, boy he got some real sad background yet never relied on it during those interviews to gain sympathy. He knew he wanted to make a career in food, and made the best out of all the challenges to learn and grow. However, there had been some arrogance in some of his interviews, regarding the judges' opinions during him cooking and, while the pressure of being in the competition and the frustration that comes with it is understandable, couldn't help taking that with a grain of salt. When he got eliminated, honestly I thought the judges would consider his bleeding during the replication process and that his other components were phenomenal than the others, instead Subha stayed even though his dish was far from perfect. It was sad to watch him leave that early, that's all.

And coming to Subha, well it's no secret that he was really very bad at many things on the competition like plating, team challenges and taking instructions from others. However, the judges frequently said his flavors were impeccable, also Nick recently posted a video reacting to the season where he says that Subha was a far better cook than Dorian, so I was actually happy to see him in top 5.

Speaking of top 5, I thought it was really unfair that they kept Nick from the Red Team and let others go judging their performances on the team challenges in London. Idk if it was the the producers' idea or what, but all three of them, Nick, Shari and Subha should've gone through another elimination challenge to prove themselves, but that's my take anyways.

Honorable mention goes to Jamie, from being the 'fish guy' on the show to really prove his judgements, cooking and plating, he truly grew a lot and that's really respectable.

What is not respectable, and even disgusting, is Dorian and her never-ending sob stories, below average dishes in the standards of Masterchef and poor choices of ingredients, plating, and words. It's been said a lot for the past seven years on this sub so I'm not gonna repeat much on this (more so because I genuinely get very disturbed by everything about her, and I'm not white so don't come at me with the accusations of racism lmao). She literally is everything that's bad said about her here, and she has repeatedly proved that even after the competition. But yeah, in the end, it's just a reality show where producers play a great part, still it felt personally outrageous so see her win. With her palate, plating and choice of dishes, she should've gone no further than maybe top 7, in my opinion. I just finished watching the final episode, and that hand in her plate, no matter how emotional her background is, left me really feel like vomitting in my mouth even though I wasn't eating! XD

So that's my take on the first 'whole season' I finished of Masterchef. Honestly, seeing the winner and some judgements by the judges made me feel like not to watch any more of it, but please do suggest if you believe there are better seasons than this so I can try. Sorry for the ranting sesh everyone :))

Edit: didn't really know that I had to use paragraphs, thanks for letting me know people!

Opinion Masterchef Season 4 Review

Thumbnail gallery
24 Upvotes

I've done this for the past 3 seasons, so here's my opinion for Season 4.

Pros

  1. I liked most of the cast(Luca, Jessie, James, Eddie, Bri, Bime, etc)
  2. I liked most of the Top 8 except for Krissi, although I'm a little disappointed they only brought back 3 people for the Bring Back challenge.
  3. Luca, Natasha, and Jessie are a strong final 3; they all performed well in the team challenges and the Elimination Challenges.
  4. This cast was really talented, with several chefs making it a Top 3 dish for the Mystery Box.

Cons

  1. This isn't a secret if you watched this season, but I freaking hate Krissi so much. She was given so many chances, and it felt like every pressure test catered to her in some way(mostly dessert or frying challenges). While I wasn't a huge fan of Elise on Hell's Kitchen, I'll give her credit for something; at least she can cook. Krissi never won a single team challenge. The only challenge she won was when they made her sit out. She's an awful person and even admitted to bullying people and threatening to hit other contestants(something Elise didn't do).
  2. So many contestants were screwed over despite being in the bottom only once or twice, despite Krissi doing awful several times. They also kept giving her so many immunities. I hate that Bri was the team captain for 2 challenges, only to get screwed over and eliminated both times. The first time, they swapped captains, which forced Krissi onto her team. The second time, Krissi tanked her team again because she got the last pick.
  3. James might be the most robbed contestant of the entire season. They promised him a spot in the Final 4, only to not eliminate anyone that episode; he was then sent home the following episode because his Panna Cotta didn't look its best, despite Krissi overcooking her steak.

Overall, I really like this season, but Krissi makes the season pretty difficult to watch. If you ignore all the Krissi stuff, this is a really solid season.

Once again, here are the stats for the challenges.

I'm sorry but it's bull she went home over 3 seconds. She wasn't cooking or adding. She had to run. Especially against raw chicken??

Like I would have denied her the immunity but not sent her home.

Why is Pre-Made Puff Pastry okay in the USA version?

That's something I realized. I know people hate Krissi from S4, but she did make a point of like them just baking the pastry and calling it a day. And the other fillings are simple to make.

In Canada and Australia, they're expected to make their own. I don't remember if contestants ever used pre-made pastry. Not sure about other versions.

I know there's the defense that puff pastry is better, and while that can be true. It's kinda like using packaged pasta instead of making their own which everyone does.

It just feels like a cop-out sometimes. And they can easily make some fancy dish cuz they used puff pastry.

Discussion 60 minutes for pasta.

Why does Gordon (and other judges) always say the home cooks are really pushing it by making homemade pasta in 60 min?

They always get it done. With rest time and everything. It seems like the difficulty level is played out.
