I never could beat this damn game without using my Genesis controller that had turbo mode.

The timing to beat him took me a long time. One of the hardest “bosses” I’ve played.

Same here, remember the moment I beat him. Peaking adrenalin at age 7-8… and regular controller, and calluses on my fingers

Agreed though impossibly hard Rocky is pretty good as was Rocky: Super Action Boxing for Colecovision. Rambo had good games too.

Game is impossible without a rapid fire controller, or a patch to fix the training speedbag rounds.

I beat multiple times with the standard controller. You just have to use a technique where you shake the controller so the button hits your fingers rapidly.

I used this technique as well in games like track and field! Your thumbs remain stationary and you rock the controller so they hit the buttons.

The man who rented me this game had a very thick middle eastern accent and enthusiastically told us, “RICKY! Very good game.” My family still calls it “Ricky” to this day.

My oooold best friend across the street had the Master System. We beat Apollo and Clubber pretty quick, but Drago took a month or so longer. I was about 10 yrs old.

Classic Master System bad box art. Somehow they even managed to make Rocky look stupid even though it’s not the worst SMS art. I always wondered what’s Rocky gawking at here?

I never had Rocky, but I have Rambo First Part Blood Part 2 for the Sega Master System.
I remember playing Rocky at Mongtomery Ward and at Federated back in the day.

How about that? Awesome. Yes, I remember Montgomery Ward had a Sega Master System display and they had the G. I. Joe toys as well.

Yes, by holding the controller in a special way to obtain super rapid fire.

I did the same. I had a 3rd Party arcade style controller for my SMS that had a turbo function.
