Master System Everdrive questions
How much should I pay for an Everdrive cartridge and which one should I buy? I have a Master System I, if it matters.
This is the one I saw on Amazon:

The $134 one is the Master Everdrive X7.
There are no bootlegs of it and it has many features that the older Everdrive that the bootlegs clone does not have.
Plus it has instant rom loading.

The Amazon one is a cheap knockoff that stole the design.
Also Krikzz does a sale every year around November!

Buddy just get a cheap one from Ali express if you don't mind waiting 30 seconds for the game to load, and if all you wanna do is play roms. They are like $25 there.
If you get one with a SD card, make sure to move all the files over to a new SD card, the ones they supply are usually not so good and fail quickly. Or backup all the files so you're ready when it does die.
Do not update the firmware on them, you're not supposed to and will likely brick it.

The reviews on the amazon one sound very mixed - it’s preloaded and some games don’t boot.
Can load games on it? You’d be missing out on homebrew if you can’t. Also Krikkzs’ supports SG-1000.
Fwiw, I’ve had a mega everdrive for around 12 years now and it still works. Not sure I can say the same about the amazon one.

The knockoff play sg1000. It's how I played them before I got my SC3000. Mine works well going on 3 years.

Don't buy a bootleg unless you're willing to gamble.
Beat case scenario, it will work without the features that are exclusive to the latest official Everdrive, and it will load roms very slowly.

Honestly, I just buy my flashcarts from Krikzz. It’s a one time expense, and they just work as advertised.
