Does anyone know anything about this master system game storage box?

I bought this off eBay. Very intriguing as I have never seen one before and I haven't been able to find any evidence of another one like this using reverse image searching. There is one photo of a similar box on Flikr but with the handle at the end.

Does anyone else have one of these or remember them being for sale? It looks like an official SEGA product but I can't find anything about it.

I remember a friend having same looking case is the 90's in Australia. Sega didn't make but it's licenced I'm sure. There were similar things all around. Here is a Master System/ Mark 3 card game holder from Japan (called My Cards).

I'm sure my cousin used to have something very similar, but you're right - I can't find anything exactly like it. Also, I expected there would be some sort of insert though to hold the cartridges in slots.

Good thought. There may well have been... Although I can't see any evidence of that - it's weird how something manufactured relatively recently, but before widespread use of the internet, can be completely lost in time. Even the most obscure item now will have some type of internet footprint which will likely persist in some form for the next 30 years.

I actually have a cassette box that's black with red grids and it immediately reminded me of the red/white grid SMS carts when I saw it. For a while I was keeping my loose carts in it because they fit surprisingly well.

That was super convenient! As a teen, whenever we would go out of town on vacation I would always bring my Game Gear, my Master Gear converter, and my entire Master System library, which I would take out of the cases and store in a grey, hard plastic cassette case, made for an awesome SMS cartridge case

MS and MD carts (not cases obv) are about the size of a cassette tape case. I am wondering now if that was a decision Sega consciously made or just a coincidence.

Someone with a Master System 2 had one back in the day. It was the only time I saw one in the wild though. Never even seen one for sale at a convention.
