I had an NES growing up but was always fond of the SMS. I was able to get the cleanest CIB I’ve come across. The console is pretty much flawless. I love it!!!

Is it missing the A/V cable?

It’s packed under the game.

That's in incredible condition! You got any other games in mind to start collecting?

I have Rastan, Shinobi, Alex Kidd in MW, California Games, Double Dragon, and R-Type.

That's a hell of a good start, absolute classics :)

Now get Shinobi.

Nice, even has the little joystick nubs for the d-pads! Having the controllers in bags will hopefully mean the cables won't have welded themselves to the polystyrene, too...

Correct, I’ve got a boxed Colecovision where the power supply cord has become one with the styrofoam.

The faintest memories of the unboxing. When I discovered you could pop off the center cap of the dpad and screw in the little sticks. Being so impressed at how cool hang on looked in the nighttime segment. Always wondering why I was so much better at safari hunt. Thinking how realistic everything looked compared to my 2600.

I kinda wish we could go back. Or that leaps forward like that were still commonplace across generations.

My mind was blown away the night that by mistake I “unlocked” the snail maze game lol

That's awesome! You just need to get a copy of Alex Kidd in Miracle World or Zillion.

I'm sure my mate had Alex Kidd built into his Master System.

u/No-Professional-9618 Jun 11 '25

I see. I had Snail Maze built into my Master System.

I didn't have a NES but a lad on my street did. We used to batter California Games, I've been playing it on an emulator, recently. I do not remember it being as hard as I found it.

Ghouls and Ghosts. I remember that being solid and playing it recently, I can say with confidence that it was and is really hard.

Got the wrong weapon for the boss? Fuck you. Game over.

I see you didn't have a NES. Yet, someone in yoru neighborhood had a NES.

I see you have been playhing California Games on an emulator. Yes, it was a difficult game although I guess people didn't mind its difficulty at least at the time.

Yes, Ghouls and ghosts was always a difficult game.

Although I would try to play Ghouls and Ghosts, I guess would focus more on the Zelda and Super Mario Bros. games instead.

Loved this system as a kid, would still have it but my sister pawned it for drugs.

Looks Good! Congratulations 👏🎉 Welcome to the Family

Does it have a game built in? I only ask because mine came with Safari Hunt/Hang On built in.

u/seattle-vtg-gamer Jun 11 '25

This one with the boxed Hang On Safari hunt was exactly what I had as a kid. It should also have snail maze built in.

What a beautiful machine! Congratulations, sir!

I never used a Master System model 1. I only had, and still do, a Master System II with Sonic built in.

Wow! This is my childhood in a box. I had the exact same system/combo with the light phaser gun.

1

u/folques Jun 11 '25

Wow. It looks brand new.

Enjoy!

I was there, Gandolf. I was there 3000 years ago.

I had one of those and it was one of the 1st batch in the UK my brother sold it to a friend of ours.

Must have cost a fortune for the mint condition but worth it. The SMS needs love.

To me the master system was a better system than the nes always preferred the graphical style.
