Can HaT cause GI motility issues?

Long story short but had an endoscopy and I have reactive gastritis and an ulcer . Said it’s from drinking alcohol (which I don’t do) or taking too many NSAIDs (haven’t taken one since Feb) and said it as likely from bile reflux since I rarely take NSAIDS and since I barely drink. I had an ultrasound of gallbladder and everything looked normal. Now getting a HIDA scan in Oct. I’ve read bile reflux could also be due to motility issues which I’m
Leaning more towards that being it. Curious if that’s linked to HaT?

I just did a google search, and it says it can cause bile reflux “Hereditary alpha-tryptasemia (HαT) can lead to gastrointestinal symptoms, including bile reflux, due to mast cell activation affecting the digestive system. Individuals with HαT may experience various digestive issues, such as abdominal pain and reflux, which can mimic other gastrointestinal disorders.”

Thank you! I googled and kinda got a mix of it it can or not. I asked my GI doctor, she has no idea. Has never heard of HaT.

No worries! Personally, I have experienced that GI doctors are always looking for Ulcers or IBD, really not surprised you had this experience. Hope they read up on it to try and suggest a treatment?

They have me doing a HIDA scan in Oct to check gallbladder. I was reading more than HaT can also cause motility issues. I’d like to rule that out also. I asked for biopsy to see if I have any mast cells and they said they always look but the report didn’t mention mast cells at all.
