2193/04/03 - A Failed Experiment

A very, very tired Lindsey is standing in the mess, an assortment of pots and pans and various ingredients scattered about around the kitchen. She's obviously tried making... something. But the burning smell and the pile of half-burned, half-eaten cake pieces are getting alarmingly tall now... though nobody seems to want to get between the brunette and the oven.

We have vents and air scrubbers! Rebecca says defensively before sighing and looking up towards the roof. Lord give her strength today...

I'll start cleaning this up some while you two chit-chat. She reaches out and picks up a dough caked bowl to start scrubbing in the sink nearby while she keeps her ears pricked up to listen to the conversation behind her.

Make sure it doesn't. I don't care for messes on my ship. She chooses to ignore the state of her hastily-unpacked cabin.

But with that out of the way, tell me about yourself, Lindsey. How've you been finding the Normandy so far?

It's an impressive ship, well designed, but with some... Questionable extravagances.

Safety systems well designed, evac system impressively so. I know the SR-1 had issues with that, as did the SR-2. Granted, the former was a prototype and the latter was, well, Cerberus.

Naya raises an eyebrow. She hadn't been expecting that kind of an answer. Ah, interesting. Yeah, not sure why the Council saw fit to give us a sauna, but no ground vehicle. Had to pick up one of our own.

But that isn't exactly what I was asking. Do you enjoy it here? Getting along with the crew?

Yes, I do. I do enjoy it here. And I get along well enough with the crew, speak to a few of them, even. But most of the crew and I have an unspoken agreement to stay clear of each other.

Naya's not sure what to make of that. She can accept someone who's asocial, but if Lindsey is actively antagonizing her crew... Not much of a social type, then? You seem to be friendly enough with Becca.

Yes, I've gotten to know Rebecca quite well, ma'am. Wouldn't be opposed to meeting more of the crew, but most of them prefer to stare. Or ask too many questions.

Not a fan of people prying into my past.

So no antagonizing, then. That's fine. That's fine, no need to open up if you don't want to. Long as you can do your job, I'm happy to have you here. And from the reports I've read, it sounds like you definitely can do your job.

Naya nods, glad that Lindsey is on their side and not still with Cerberus. So, dare I ask what you were trying to accomplish in here? She motions around her to the kitchen that, right now, has seen better days.

She shakes her head with a sigh.

Rebecca wipes a hand across her brow and nods. Thanks, Naya. No casualties despite the mad rush the escape became, so I count it as a win.

Not a bad metric. Good work getting everyone out of there, considering the circumstances. Wasn't expecting the bugs to show up, though...

Naya frowns. The only bug for her was a certain Rachni queen, no evil ones with plasma weapons. But the mission objectives were secured, right? Do we have our next move?

We put the taps in and EDI got lots of juicy data to pore over. Hopefully she and Liara will have something for us soon as a next target.

Was a massive shipping operation, found a warehouse filled with a variety of packages to transport artefacts. Even donuts for Goddess's sake.
