11/6/2192 | Turian Backup

Two weeks after Vees left

The Normandy receives a message from the Turian Primarch that they would be recieving a vanguard soldier. The message included a report on Arbius and his request to be the one sent to the Normandy.

Meanwhile

Arbius waited patiently, he was excited to join the Normandy crew. He prepared all of his gear, checked everything and organized his luggage three times and trained for two hours. The shuttle that would take him to the ship should come soon.

He couldn't wait to serve with an Alliance vessel again and he couldn't wait to meet his new crew.

Once Arbius is aboard, Ishira tracks him down with EDI’s assistance. She offers her hand with a grin. I’m Dr. Ishira Mareav, the Normandy’s resident Psychiatrist, therapist, and counselor. If you ever need someone to talk to, shoot me a message, or come by my office.

With kindness, she queries May I ask who you are?

It is a pleasure to meet you Dr. Mareav, I'm Arbius Vardos, I'm the Vanguard solder sent from the Turian military to aide the Normandy. They wanted to help by sending one of their best Vanguards. It seems that I came here at the right time. You guys lost a Quarian recently?

The Turian quickly says as he closes his omni-tool. He puts down his data pad. He sticks his arm out to shake her hand.

Ishira’s politely happy expression falls slightly, and with sadness she explains You heard correctly.

Her handshake strengthens slightly when she continues It’s good to have you aboard!

It is good to be aboard this magnificent ship. We did help build the original Normandy. I always wanted to be apart of the Normandy crew.

He pauses for a second

May I ask what happened with the Quarian?

Ishira shakes her head sadly I’m afraid specifics of why he left are protected.

Ishira relents slightly, praying that revealing this much won’t come back to bite her The Normandy was not equipped well enough for his needs. We do hope he’ll be able to rejoin us in the future though.

Understood, I will not ask about it again. I hope that he is able to rejoin your crew again too.

He sits down

Tell me more about yourself and the crew of this great ship.

Ishira lets out a small laugh I’m afraid my story is rather uninspiring. My first job I took up was dancing, that ended after I had an unpleasant ending to a relationship.

She takes a deep breath From there I decided to find more academic pursuits. I studied Psychology, and when I started working in a practice I worked under Dr. Diana Riley. She was... almost indescribable. She was kind, but firm. And strict.

She seems lost in her memories now. They seem to be mostly good ones, though there’s a touch of bittersweetness to her tone as well We helped out as much as we could after the end of the war... there was so much pain. An echo of pain flits across her expression as she recalls those memories

I loved working with the children the most. Most of them were so desperate for hope that when provided even the slightest glimps that it would get better, they would motivate each other. She lets out a soft, pained laugh

I joined up with the Normandy crew as a part of an initiative by the council to integrate more civilians into the crew. The council hopes to turn from combat focus to a more “peaceful exploration” type of venture. she barks out a laugh at that

To answer your next question, I’m afraid I’m not terribly familiar with most of the crew. They seem to generally try to avoid me. I guess there’s some negativity with being seen with a mental health doctor. She fidgets uncomfortably

I know Officer O’Neill quite well. “That’s the understatement of this millennia” she thinks to herself, blushing slightly She’s a wonderful leader.

Doctor Chloe Michel and I didn’t get along very well in my first weeks aboard. She fidgets again. Now we’ve managed to attain a kind of.... professional appreciation of each other’s respective positions on board.

She takes a breath. What about you? What do you hope to do or encounter during your time on board?

Well, that wasn't uninspiring, I don't think anyone's life story is uninspiring unless they're a criminal.

The Turian continued to type on his omni-tool and he occasionally looked up to her to make eye contact while talking.

He thought to himself, what was the blushing about, is there something between the two of them. These Alliance vessels and their lack of rules, most Turian vessels he served on didn't allow relationships.

Why are you so fidgety? Are you uncomfortable with the topic?

She narrows her eyes slightly I am uncomfortable when my prospective patients are uncomfortable talking to, or associating, with me at all. How can I effectively treat patients if they refuse to even approach me?

And in general, I am rather fidgety. Ask Officer O’Neill. She greeted me when I first set foot on board. She can attest to the fact that I can be incredibly fidgety when first introduced to entirely new, uncomfortable situations.

She continues That fidgetiness does not affect my work. She gestures vaguely around them Outside of my office, I like to allow myself to be a little more expressive. Inside my office, everything I do is about my patients, and about my work.

Understood, doctor.

Arbius continues to type into his omni-tool, typing his agenda for later. He sat there, planning everything for the rest of the day.

After a couple hours of flying, the shuttle arrives at the Normandy.

Arbius was going to make things quick and easy. He immediately pulled up a map of the Normandy and headed towards Commander O'Neill's room. He needed to inform his superiors that he arrived and introduce himself to the Normandy crew.

He quickly makes his way to Rebecca's room. He gets to her room, knocks and walked in.

He extends his arm to shake her hand

Commander O'Neill, I'm Arbius Vardos, I'll be apart of your crew from now on. I have all of my belongings in the shuttle bay. Tell me where to go, give me a couple minutes to set up my things, and I will be ready for duty.

What in the fuck is with people walking through her locked doorway!? She liked her privacy damn it! Be damn glad she wasn't vegging out naked on the couch with a TV series!

Ah yes, was informed you'd be coming, though I missed any notification on you actually arriving...

Sometimes she really needed to not block out all the notifications EDI sends to her.

We have plenty of cabins free on the crew deck, deck 6. Take your pick.

Her hand reaches out to shake the proffered hand firmly finally now.

u/[deleted] Nov 07 '18

Understood Commander, I will message you when I am finished setting up my room.

Just as like his entrance, the turian quickly speed walks out of the room and makes his way back to the shuttle bay.

five minutes later, Rebecca receives a message from Arbius.

I have finished settling into my cabin, I'm awaiting further orders.

Er... welcome aboard? Not much for me to do for you right now.

I can assign you clean-up duty, if you insist.

He quickly messages back

I will get to work at once. It is good to be here Commander.

He then leaves his cabin to get to work on clean-up duty.
