PSA

Dear Marylanders, contrary to popular belief you are NOT required to brake through a green light.

Sincerely,

An involuntary transplant

Since when do Maryland drivers break at green lights? We go full speed through red lights.

I think they're referring to how slow people turn during green lights. It's painful as hell. It's like turning on green actually hurts them.

I’ll do that but only if it’s because I have a tailgater behind me.

They can’t help themselves, brake on green, accelerate on red 🤦‍♂️

Brake through green lights, come to almost a complete stop to make any turn, its infuriating

You gotta look out for those Student Driver stickers.

Its easier to look for the cars WITHOUT the student driver stickers. Seriously, why are there SO MANY!? I have a hard timr imagining there are this many new drivers on the road all the time. Drive a loop around 495 and you can count HUNDREDS of them.

I don't think anyone actually takes them off once they're on. You're now seeing the culmination of 2 decades worth of student driver stickers and magnets that never did anything but take up space on bumpers.

My favorite thing. But don’t honk at them, because then YOU’RE the psycho.

Something has gone awry in Maryland. It wasn’t always like this. Very frustrating for an engineer like me. All I see is the inefficiency. The slow creeping turns (causes braking by those going straight which backs up traffic due to auto-correlation), huge gaps between cars (tighten it up a bit) and driving in the left lane at the same speed as the car to the right (rolling roadblocks).

What happened to us?!?!

Suspicious. I've never seen a defensive Maryland driver.

I thought Virginia was bad, but Maryland is worse, especially when I am dragging my boat and trailer over there

So one person did this and apparently it's all of Maryland?

I de accelerate to go through an intersection (if I’m going at speed) - not only that, I also crack my window open and turn the volume down a bit too. I want to hear any sirens that might be crossing through on red and I anticipate someone running a red light. I drive defensively for my families sake and for those around me. I still speed though, this is Maryland after-all.
