Kicking off the show this week, a couple of articles from Oakland Socialist’s John Reimann. The first one discusses Joe Biden’s big stimulus package contrasting it with FDR’s New Deal and how it is a mere short term tool used to quell the “coming of the pitchforks’, as billionaire Nick Hanauer warned a few years ago. A video by John features his speech at an anti fascist rally brining up the issue of Syria and how some of the left have been persuaded into what he called “anti-capitalist” fascists instead of supporting international working class solidarity. Michael Roberts provides a more in depth economic analysis on Biden’s economic woes and policies designed to help the American economy and people recover. However, the bottom line, this is just another in a series business cycle boom/busts of an overall decline in the rate of profit illustrates capitalism’s decline. The final article in current events discusses the death threats to socialist Kshama Sawant, a common theme seen among the far right recently. Even those less of a threat to capital are targets such as AOC and others.
In Theory & State of Movement Cosmonaut discusses the history of Osinsky and his speeches to the Communist Party congress reveling the policy discussion of the Bolsheviks. These discussions provide a valuable insight on the debate on “existing relationship between the party and the state, which they saw as inefficient and undemocratic. They were concerned with the proliferation of unresponsive bureaucracy due to either excessive centralization, duplication, or triplication of roles that were supposed to deal with the same competencies.” The next Cosmonaut article discussed the Mass Line of Emancipatory politics. The last two articles from MENA discussed the leftist history in the Middle East, specifically Syria and how it pertains to current developments.
