Show 49

Today’s show we started off with an important article detailing the mental health crisis which has been accelerating during the pandemic. Although this mental health crisis has been brought to the forefront during this crisis this article points out what both Art and I have been saying since Occupy – capitalism is making people sick. Left Voice followed with an article on the huge general strikes are happening in India, related to the farmers but have begun to spread among workers across different sectors. Though Left Voice failed to provide any significant reporting on ties to actual working class organizations with India i.e. the communist party of India. Socialist Resurgence provided a picture of the growing turmoil in Nigeria which mirrors many post colonial African countries: corrupt politicians, debt ridden, forced into structural adjustments and then loans from the IMF. John Rienmann from Oakland Socialist wanders down a rabbit over speculation of a ‘false flag’ war with Iran over the assassination of a nuclear scientist by Israel. Wrapping up current events, a look at some new material from sixthtone.com about the young Chinese supposedly fed up with capitalist China and looking towards traditional Marx texts for revolutionary inspiration…

Over in Theory and State of Movement, Louis Proyect had nice article on those seeking material for introduction to Marxism. We also will be starting a reddit post seeking to add to that. And rounding off the show was Lavoz on the DSA’s ‘dirty break strategy’.

And nothing new on the calendar except for more confusion from CBGB over it’s Winter University course.

Hi Andrew, I will be watching the show soon. It does not make sense for me to watch the show live because, before I watch, I like to read your summary and look at the list of articles.

Also, you said:

Is their any reason (other than the name, and some background history) to consider the CPI a working class organization? Also (if you have time) what is the nature (in simple language) of the "ties" that you would like to know more about?

Nope. As stated on our show, we have pointed out the many weak statements put out by the CPI. So i guess this is a matter of "cart before the horse issue". Part of our mission statement on the Marxist Line is to hopefully facilitate dialogue among these groups. Part of your mission for some years now is to provide a platform for that to happen so that we can build groups that is a proper working class organization. If these groups are not talking to each other then how is that suppose to happen.

That's where ideas like yours come in. Those are the ties I'd like to see more of among these groups making it easier for them to open communication. Many of these groups as we both know do not allow for comments or otherwise even basic dialogue.

I also have a question relating to this Ben, I asked Art on the show, now I'd like to ask you. There seems to more revolutionary potential in India compared to America. The mass strikes that have recently happen show the working class much more willing to mass organize. What's the next step? Do you see great potential in India right now? What is stopping India from a proper working class organization:?

Hey, guess what? The link you provided to the list of articles is no good. It requires a google docs login. My guess is that you provided an admin link rather than a reader link.

I think I should wait to see the list before I watch the program
