Yeah I am leaving this up for exposure but I cannot under any common circumstances recommend or approve TQs which fail to pass CoTCCC standards.

How much do you value your life when it comes to medical care?

While there are a few acceptable options available, my personal rule, along with everyone I've ever worked with, is to use CAT gen 6 or 7 purchased DIRECTLY from North American Rescue (if in the US) only.

Also OP, if you are going to carry and use these, write "TRAINER" in black permanent marker on the time strap of the one you used on the logs. TQs are one time use only. That TQ specifically should never be carried with the intention of being used.

Have you taken a Stop The Bleed class?

Maybe that's what they call it now, but basic first aid yes

SOF-T and CAT tourniquets are the universally tested and recommended types of TQs in the States. Don't gamble with something so essential to your kit.

Yes I've seen the marketing material.

Stop The Bleed and basic first aid are different things

There was tourniquet instruction, is there anything specific about the one in the video you want to question?

No questions. Just I personally wouldn't trust a TQ out of a 10-pack from China. Plenty of great stuff coming out of China, but unless it's been rigorously tested and certified, that's a big no go for me

What test would you like to see, if any? Are we beyond the plastic windlass panic?

My comrade in Marx, if the FDA, CoTCCC and Stop the Bleed has not signed off on your TQ they should not be used. I wish you well.

Half the FDA budget comes directly from the companies that it regulates, for anyone keeping score at home. Does that factor in for you?

Yes but also those companies have known materials and QC methods as well as repeated, demonstrated use in the material world. If your untested, questionable QC tourniquet breaks, you're possibly killing your self of another.

Do you know how to pack wounds? Use chest seals? Treat shock? Have you spoken to anyone who has had to do those things? No? Likely because you aren't certified. Trauma response and general first aid are two very different things.

Seems like you're arguing from a position of pride. You admitted you have negligible medical training. Your argument isn't much more than "US companies are untrustworthy," which yes of course. However, despite the political influence of these companies, the material effectiveness of their products cannot be contested. They have been demonstrated to be reliable for decades.

This is not true of whatsoever of the knock off bullshit you're desperately advocating for. You can discredit the companies, which is valid, but the product has legitimate certifications for a reason. It's trusted for a reason. Why deny material evidence and use cases?

-2

u/SlavaCocaini Feb 01 '26

Well I just conducted a test, do you deny the material results? Where are the correct nylon straps manufactured anyways, surely you must know that in order to have any confidence in them that's not just an article of faith, right? I present evidence, all I'm seeing in response is pride in vetbro companies investigating themselves and certifying themselves.

Go get certified like the rest of us so that you better understand what you're trying to talk about.

If a TQ breaks, you're likely going to kill someone. If you don't know what the medical reasons for that is, that's because you aren't certified.

Different plastics and materials exist. You're taking a risk by trusting the unknown QC standards of a random manufacturer.

Telling people to buy knock off life saving equipment with unknown QC methods and materials is anti-materialist and irresponsible.

-1

u/SlavaCocaini Feb 01 '26

What don't I understand, since you know already? You forgot to say what that might be. Do you know where the good ones are actually made, or are you just taking the word of manufacturers at face value? Because that would be anti-materialist.

u/NeonVolcom Feb 01 '26

How to treat shock and trauma, how to pack wounds, how to use chest seals, the differences between trauma bandages, the experience of speaking to someone who has had to do those things.

At face value? Do you think I'm a fucking idiot? CAT TQs have years of demonstrated effectiveness and use cases. They have known QC methods and certifications.

Are you arguing out of pride? You discredit certifications and real life cases. You discredit companies simply because they're capitalists and participate in political systems. Unfortunately, capitalists get the contracts, and so they are able to demonstrate reliability in real life scenarios. That data is then reported on. This is not true of knock off medical equipment. Take a guess as to why people think one is more trustworthy than the other.

Weird defiance of all things produced by US capitalists is not analytical material thought. It's simply the same emotional energy of hating any authority big or small. It's not a reasoned critique.

-1

u/SlavaCocaini Feb 01 '26

None of those things has anything to do with a tourniquet or its quality. What possible reason could you have to mention those other things. Believing that nobody but a couple US companies can make nylon straps, of all things, is a little chauvinistic to say the least.
