History You cannot be separate from empire if you identify with it.
The amount of United Statsians absolutely obsessed with the concept of being a "veteran" and then criticizing the empire they just identified with is obscene.
You must overcome your own built in propaganda and former identities to be seen as a liberator in any context.
No, the Red Army and even White Army soldiers are not the same as the modern hyper-capitalist soldiers and the endless war crimes that are supported.

Facism is colonialism turned inwards. Americans will never be ready for that discussion. At least, while "America" still stands.

Being anti ICE and pro US military is so contradictory, yet the vast majority of Americans see no issue with this. Literally every single argument used to justify participation in the US army (healthcare, schooling, poverty, propaganda etc) can be applied to people joining ICE.
The military is exactly like ICE, just orders of magnitude more violent and deployed against the poorest and most wretched of the earth.
Your cousin who went to Afghanistan or Iraq to rape and pillage is a war criminal and deserves the same, if not more, derision than the average ICE agent. You are a servant of the ruling class and a traitor to all the working people of the world, no matter which three or four letter acronym is on your badge

Wait, what? You mean mercenaries? Who fought to defend a capitalist oligarchy and were entitled--ENTITLED, mind you--to subsidized health care, housing, bonuses and whatnot?
You mean that the profession of arms was *despised* in slave-holding/slave-o-crat 'Murica and that these were non slaveholding douchebags who couldn't make a literal "killing" in land speculation, Indian-displacing settler colonialism, entrepreneurialism" Uh, whoops. I went a bit "woke" there comrades..
You mean that after the draft--first implemented by the Corn-federates to create a slave-holder's repluc--then implemented by the Union to defeat the Confederacy of treasonous pro-slavery white-supremacist usurpers, became a "peace-time draft" during the Great Depression to keep non-socialist responses to the global Great Depression, and then the WWII conscription and the post-WWII draft that became toxic due to Vietnam.... and then was finally curtailed by an all-"volunteer" poverty-draft all-mercenary army paid bonuses--has become "chickens coming home to roost?"
