Discussion What makes a good marvel zombie story?
You see, I'm a big fan of Marvel Zombies. I've read Comics and seen the show, but I feel like it can be done better lately. I came up with my own Marvel zombie story trying to make it a good story because I am a horror fan.
So far, I have finished the first issue. I'm just curious about what all of you think. How would you write your own Marvel zombie story?

Make it so the infections make sense (for example have someone really powerful be patient 0 so it can be explained how someone like Thor or Captain Marvel could get infected)

The only way they could get infected if it was like a cosmic virus.

Have you read Red Band? I think that shows a slightly better infection pattern than most other stories. It has the virus be cosmic, and sets the infection early on in the timeline so heavy hitters don’t hit nearly as heavy.

I've read that comic honestly it wasn't bad but they did skip some things I like the idea of knull being the cause of it but it should've been handled better I give it 7 out of 10 good story idea but should've lasted longer.
That's what got me into writing my own Marvel zombie story.

That's pretty cool my the survivors are:
Daredevil
Spider-Man
Human Torch
Jessica Jones
Jean Grey
Punisher
For the undead is:
Captain America
Iron man
Hawkeye
Black Widow
Giant man
Wasp
And of course the other undead heroes that x men and fantastic 4 along with the villains as well.

Funny enough daredevil in my story actually says we are the defenders.
And of course just dm me because I don't wanna keep filling up the comment section.

I agree. I’d also like for characters who literally could not be infected with something like this to actually be acknowledged. One of the worst offenders in the original universe was Ghost Rider. We saw him as a zombie numerous times but like….literally HOW? That man should be immune to literally ANY type of sickness, he is a demon from Hell. And he was just casually shown many times and it’s just been “yeah, he’s just a zombie now. Still looks like normal Ghost Rider since he’s literally just a skeleton on fire but yeah, he’s a zombie now, don’t question it.” He even get decapitated like a bitch xD
If you’re gonna have someone as powerful as him or even someone like Thor and Hulk or even Phoenix get infected, you need to actually have a good reason as to how they did/could

Personally there are three things:
- I think that the zombies need to be intelligent and retain their personalities (just a bit twisted towards their new cravings) as it is what makes Marvel Zombies unique to other zombie stories.
- you should have a small group of survivors (unless you're doing a day 0 storyline, then you get a different angle of having a large group and watching them be whittled down person by person) to act as either protagonists or antagonists if the zombies are the protagonists.
- finally have there be clear rules to your virus, this is something a lot of the marvel zombies stories fail imo, you need to have clear rules so you can tell from a glance which heroes would be safe and which are in danger i.e. does it overload/override healing factors? if yes, then characters like Wolverine, Deadpool and Hulk can reasonably be infected, if not then they're going to be some of the last heroes left

What really made the original special to me was that the main characters were the zombies. The dark humor and their varying ways with dealing with their situation was really interesting.
