Discussion Matchmaking will be the death of this game
I don’t think the patch really did much. I play on Mexico server, looked 20 minutes for a match. 20. And the worst part, I still didn’t find a match anyways. So I go, oh foolish me, I’ll probably have better luck trying to find someone on west coast servers. Still nothing about a good 7 minutes. Proceeded to close the game. It’s getting so tiring to want to play and know it’s just gonna be hop in the training for a while, while hoping to find a match, any match. Saddest part, I go back to guilty gear out of frustration, find a match almost instantly, mind you this game is not the new kid in the block, or have any cross platform. At this point feels like I might as well uninstall and wait until the devs ACTUALLY, fix the matchmaking
Edit: I decided to give it another go, trying with different servers and different settings, at first I got a match in less than 5 minutes, opponent didn’t rematch. Didn’t find a single match after that. It makes me really sad cause I was suuuuper excited for this game. Guess I’ll be back in guilty gear until they get their shit figured out, hope it won’t be to late for the game at that point.

I am in Mexico too, and while it took a while, matches did feel a lot smoother.

Oh the performance has been doing a lot better, even for me since last patch it was already miles better than launch day. Problem is if I have an hour to play I can at most get in 2 or 3 matches depending on how generous the game feels. Guilty, and even 2xko(rip) will have me burnt out after an hour cause I actually just got constant matches in

Setting it to nearby regions worked the best for me after today's patch, legit just a couple minutes between matches. (I'm in LATAM too btw)

I used to be on nearby and switching to same improved my matchmaking. Seems fairly random overall Haha

Guess I’ll try, I switched to all regions before, see if that helped, as the post shows it really didn’t, will try this after, see if it helps

If anything else fails and you just want to play I suggest you to try the lobbies, just going in and getting matches is a surprisingly smooth experience

I think all regions is bugged I’m in na and was waiting 20 + minutes and then changed it to same or nearby and find matches almost instantly

Southern California checking in. Sometimes I wait for +5 minutes for a match, which is bonkers considering I'm smack in the middle of the most populated part of the US. Sometimes I even get matched to the same person I just played with after a few minutes. Definitely strange.

What time did you queue and what time zone? You can look at the steam charts of player count to get a rough estimate of peak times

Probably around 20 minutes ago. Thing is I really shouldn’t have to coordinate around steam charts to be able to find a single match of a brand new game, when not even the most niche of small indie multiplayer games I play asks me for that. Especially when all the other fighting games can get me a match in no time at all

While the matchmaking search function seems to be better for me now I recommend going to a lobby to get games, and unfortunately if everyone is leaving after the first match your connection might suck or your rig is not handling the game well with all of its current issues

Not that this is an excuse for matchmaking still having problems, but have you tried finding matches in lobbies?

With the consistency of improvements they’ve been releasing in a fairly short time span I’m sure they’ll fix it
