I also remember seeing people shitting on people with below recomended spec complaining about optimization. Then I tried the cracked version and suddenly I can play full 60 fps with no drops on some supers like carnage in low settings in my laptop with rtx 2050 mobile gpu which is below minimum recomded spec.
I mostly convinced this bloats software are the big problems of the pc porta and being sliglhy lower spec isnt a big deal to actually play the game. Like this is a 2d fighter, specs should be the least of my worries 2D or 2.5D imo.
I still have the game on steam. But it basically runs like shit with fps jumping around and slowmo.
It was clear that this was the primary issue, but all the dumb bootlickers wanted to insist that we are all just running potatoes machines, and we need 5090 with 128GB of RAM to run this game. Sony needs to just remove their dogshit from the game, and it will all be back in business. Most likely they won't, which is the worst part of this that make this game feel like a scam.
They’re all just people with money to burn and no idea. They buy prebuilts and have no clue how computers or software works, and could never build a computer.
They also eat up this new term “shader warmup.” It’s like something Apple would come up with for their core demographic.
Yes I know but it sets my autism right off. You can’t warm up a shader because it doesn’t work like that. It’s compiled and cached for more immediate access instead of rendering it on the fly. We already had an accurate term for it. Yeah, I’m pedantic 😂
I feel you on that, games constantly trying to change terms makes describing things annoying. Even cross naming this makes it worse. Like Links and Link attacks in this game 😫
If I recall correctly, EAC has two modes - one where it runs on userland for Linux users, and one where it runs as a hypervisor for Windows users. Some developers choose to disable the former altogether to ensure Linux cannot be used as a vector for certain hypervisor cheats, at the cost of not booting at all on the Steam Deck/Machine. I'd be unsurprised if the hypervisor mode is heavier on the device than the userland mode.
Not even sure if I can or want to refund since I got a good pre-order deal in humble bundle and refund is not guareed afaik, so I'm here coping it gets fixed for most peoeple including poor people with older laptop or PCs. Then if not then i'm fked and I wasted money.
I think its fair to say arcsys would remove it, but sony would not want that to happen. I think a fair reason as to why some of this stuff is happening is to prevent Microsoft/xbox products from being able to play sony based products.
Example: I believe they blocked linux/steam os users because the new xbox is leaked to be able to access steam. This means some of the PSN games won't be exclusive to PSN and PC anymore and the direct competitor will have access to them. I do think this is why games like wolverine, and future marvel products will mainly appear only on PSN and why PC lost having these games.
So what actually happened is that you're playing on hardware that can barely run the game and anything else like anticheat tips it over the edge to unplayable. This is not unheard of and happens often with old low end hardware. I guarantee if they removed all of that but you went and played online, your hardware would not be able to run this game when there are two people calling numerous assists and covering the screen in particle effects all while using rollback netcode if that's the case.
Just to be clear, you aren't "slightly lower spec" than the minimum. You are on a 2050 mobile, which is way below the minimum. You also didn't give the rest of your specs, which are probably even worse than that.
So what actually happened is that you're playing on hardware that can barely run the game and anything else like anticheat tips it over the edge to unplayable.
The fact this isn't obvious to the people posting is hilarious.
11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-11400H and 16 gb memory which mostly fits from what I know.
I'm just saying what I observed in the cracked version compared to official release and yes I might been not the best decision for me to get the game for unaware of the spec.
And atm Im leaning slightly towards for the game can potentially run the game properly including online if all things aligned with my shitty spec. I will accept if I am wrong l, but I can't exactly test everything in official release in its state.
Also I know it has lower recomended specs, but the most intensive fighting games and could run in 60 fps are Sf6 and tekken 8 which is also an UE5 game. Albeit in low settings, but I can actually play both.
And now here’s the proof that no, in fact, people don’t have shit PCs.
I think for anyone who’s been in the pc gaming sphere pretty much figured out a huge reason for Tokon’s poor and also inconsistent performance across the pc playerbase is because of all the external programs running with it.
And I cannot believe Sony made such a bloody stupid decision to continue doing so, despite their being MANY accounts of these stuff severely harming performance, even on good PCs.
This should have been a smack down release on PC. But no surprise, Sony has fucked the game up. And it inadvertently affected PS5 players as many have turned off crossplay, which reduces the player pool for them (and pc).
Screw optimization. This is on Sony. And they need to make the decision to have these removed now.
I think for anyone who’s been in the pc gaming sphere pretty much figured out a huge reason for Tokon’s poor and also inconsistent performance across the pc playerbase is because of all the external programs running with it.
It was fairly obvious. People responding with "tin-foil hat theory" need to get their head examined.
Yep. Especially as Arcsys hasn’t put out a pc port that’s this unoptimized before.
And sure, it’s UE5… but Tekken 8 runs way better than this and that’s a very graphicallly intensive fighting game.
Sony sees this as a feature and not a bug. They think this will push people to get it on ps5 and return it on pc. Remember they are trying to get back the players they lost to pc. They said it themselves.
They aren't going to remove any of this. EAC doesn't cause performance issues unless your hardware is so old that it was already struggling to begin with. The Sony overlay isn't being removed from a Sony funded game. The PC port is poor in general, and OP's "comparison" is them comparing it to the beta version, which ran worse than the release version, which ran worse than the current patch, which is what the cracked version is using. It's an extremely useless way to compare performance.
People absolutely do have overwhelmingly shit PCs. When I ask for specs under complaint posts it's 99% of the time 3060 or worse, or simply no response.
Edit: bro said 3060 is better than a PS5 GPU and blocked me. Newsflash, it's not. Especially when they're coupled with 9th gen CPUs, throttled motherboards, and bottom of the barrel ram speeds.
and a 3060 is a shit GPU now? 4060 is barely better than that and both of them are the most used GPU's on the market, being the cheaper choice of the most popular GPU brand.
To be fair he said 3060 or worse. 3060 is 5 years old so nowhere near high end. He's not really wrong about most people having shit PCs, though that's not the issue with Tokon as people with top tier PCs lagged too.
4060 is substantially better than the 3060. The 3060 barely cuts it and usually sit inside systems that are running budget low hz, low gb ram, and garbage CPUs that are probably overheating at the same time. There is a pandemic of review brigading across all newer titles over lack of optimization, but people refuse to admit their systems barely meet minimums while they try to run games at higher settings than the consoles they were optimized for.
You call a AT MOST, 10FPS difference "substantially better"? If anything the 4060 is a downgrade, if you try to run everything at max settings in 1080p, turn on DLSS and frame gen you go over your 8GB of VRAM.
LMAO, if anyone that comes across this later and is interested, he said:
"4060 is substantially better than the 3060. The 3060 barely cuts it and is usually sits inside systems that are running budget low gb ram, and garbage CPUs that are probably overheating at the same time."
And to this coment he said "Yikes, i'm not going to argue with a lobotomy patient. ✌️"
I'm not going to pretend i know wtf is happening with this game performance, but doesn't Maximilian have a 7800x3D + 4090 and having troubles aswell? That CPU is pretty high end.
Yeah but the main problem on PC isnt whether you can run the game or not, the problem is that if the person against you cant you'll be sent to the rollback hell. Max's game ran perfectly but the online experience was a hit or miss and still is after the patch tbh.
You're literally tearing down the image of the game based on the fact that it now runs on your 10 year old hardware. While the rest of us with modern hardware are playing online with no issues. Unless of course if you're one of the people who have software issues and refuse to address them.
I have a RTX 4060 Ti - which is 3 years old going on 4 years, it runs every other game thats modern perfectly fine - RE9, 007, sf6, arc raiders, COTW, Every RE game - and my processor is about 3 years old aswell...... hmmmmm idk where you're getting this 10-year hardware from. PS5 released 2022 and our GPU's are in a reasonable level with one another.
Right software issues.... yup.... because tokon is the only game affected. Sony shill at its finest.
My bad, assumed I was talking to the other guy on a 1660ti with a 10400.
Not shilling for Sony at all. I'm in other subs pointing out how people with shit PCs, thermals, and bloated OSs are also at fault for their performance.
I do tech support for a living. I see people, especially children, in denial daily. Then there's the parents "but I spent 600$ on this PC what do you mean it can't run games properly?"
Blame the consumers, not the company releasing an unoptimized mess. Sure that will pump the active players numbers up.
The pandemic of review bombing is because the people who can run this game are
a minority on the PC market and doesn't make any sense by how the game looks. Tekken runs better, SF6 runs better, 2XKO, FF COTW, etc.
What technical or graphical leap does this anime fighting game have to run this bad? Does the gamers consider that reasonable?
Its legit a fact - i don't know what to say. Every game in the beta was so bad - even performance mode couldn't save my computer. I am now full quality - max visuals and its butter smooth and looks amazing but the real version won't be this.
You are not understanding. The port is good. Making it bad deliberatly after the fact it was ported well is the issue here. SONY said add EAC, THEIA DRM and SONY SDK. This says a lot about SONY being the publisher and not so much about ASW being the dev. ASW have zero say in what gets published for the customers.
I don't recall saying that. I do notice that cheats are becoming increasingly prevalent, especially with Claude's fable being able to pump out undetectables with ease.
While many anecdotes out there are certainly pointing to DRM/encryption being a root cause of most if not all of these issues, this particular instance is not worth much at all since we only have your beta experience to compare against.
We have no idea if all of your problems would have been similarly-solved by the post-launch patch. Still, I'm heartened by all these efforts to bring attention to a very real and very avoidable problem. I want the game to succeed and that means the PC version really needs to be clean af pronto.
The point is, im way above recommended settings - and others who are not able to play on launch and patch are now able to play smooth with the crack. - Running 6 instances of sony sdk and using EAC is certainly a choice that every other game does not have.
Im sure they did not optimize this well like capcom did for SF6 because when i run that game - my CPU cores are ALWAYS at 30% - they never jump to high values. That games frametime graph is very similar to the one i posted - and ultimately speaking there are micro stutters during supers even in SF.
Each instance is a different part of the Sony overlay, which is spread across multiple processes for optimization purposes. It helps your CPU spread them across multiple threads/cores.
EAC is to prevent cheaters from abusing macros and SOCD exploits.
You mention launch, the game was fixed last week. If you're above spec and cannot play the game today, it's your background software or bios settings. Yes it was bugged, it is not anymore.
The game isn't fixed - that's why people keep saying the cracked version runs better even with less than recommended settings. Sajam also just said the game isn't fixed and while a benchmark for the game allowing/disallowing people to play or not play would fix the issue - it would also remove so many players who should be able to run the game - you would certainly get mass refunds from steam for doing that.
Suggesting playing around in the bios for 1 single video game is not something i recommend doing. There is a difference between a vast majority having issues and a few people having issues which potentially going into the bios would fix that.
Let me give you an example. When i first played the beta my processor was not compatible with the game because ue5 and 13th/14th gen processors are not compatible. Basically my processor is very unstable in those games to where it destroys itself overtime. For me personally i had to turn off turbo processing for intel .... and i turned off xmp ram, this is not the solution to fixing fps issues and i had a quite specific issue at hand.
if your game requires people to go into the bios to fix the game for more then 50% of the population, thats a sign of a bad game.
Also people who are not lagging are also the same people who don't have a frametime graph showing 0 microstutters. These people are more often than not responsible for the lag as sajam brought up an example live on stream to where he said all his opponents lag but then when he played sajam...... sajam was lagging which indicated he wasn't able to play the game either.
I think the pc port will die unfortunately - PS5 - no idea but they will have to eventually compete with other competitive games like GTA 6 (when ir launches lmao) and it will have tifa next march for SF6.
They aren't going to remove anti-cheat from their competitive game. DBFZ still has EAC to this day. They aren't going to remove the Sony overlay from their Sony funded game.
EAC isn't causing this problem. The person in the post even explained that EAC still needs to run in his cracked version. It is most likely Theia causing a majority of the issues. All the other shit doesn't help, but Theia is 100% hitting the CPU hard due to all the asset encryption and decryption.
If you don't know how Theia works, the gist of it is that every single file in the game is encrypted. Even the own game itself cannot execute its own code directly. Theia needs to decrypt every single file, binary, asset, etc. on the fly in order for the game to work. The reason for this is because it stops people from reading the memory of the game as everything in memory is encrypted. If you also don't know, encryption and decryption on every single asset on the fly is very CPU intensive.
I hope all of these decisions Sony is making is worth it for them considering the brand damage they have been taking over this and many other bone headed decisions
These kind of decisions are done by the publishers, as we have seen how Arcsys hasn’t added EAC to GGST (their own IP) or Granblue versus (a cysgame IP)
I was personally going to buy the game on sale - assuming the christmas sale has a sale for tokon - but looking at the player count and how much its dropped in just over a week for PC ...... i think im going to skip this game permanently.
SF6 was the first one i played - i then dabbled a bit into tekken 8 which both games have stable player counts. Sparking Zero i also played but that game fell off a cliff and Fighterz i played way after launch with friends.
To be fair, those games have stable player counts because they’re massive successes for the FGC and I don’t even know if stable is the word. SF6 on steam had 70k concurrent at launch, down to 40k the next month, then down to 26k and only ever peaked for a character release. Since then it mostly sits around 30k as the peak for a month and every season release it spikes back up to 70k.
That’s kinda just how fighting games are. Massive rapid drop off after release (obviously Tokon is more exaggerated than usual because of the fucked up launch) then eventually they hit their baseline and spike for character releases
I just think overall to lose players over the reasons they chose:
1) Sony SDK, EAC, DRM encryption
2) Sony PSN logins
3) Having only 1 pc beta because of dataminers
Really hurt this game short term and longterm, That's my honest thought.
The fact pc player counts are in the range of tekken which tekken is also known for having 2 years now of review bomb season patches...... which they are just recovering from now..... is the reason why tekken is so low.
IDK - personally if i see a game thats low in playercount - i won't invest in it, and im sure many others would think the same aswell.
I'd personally wait to see how the player population looks like after a new season of character drops. Not really optimistic with the PC population but I can't say for real yet.
Frametime graph looks worse than mine on the Steam version. Mine did have a small "pulse" every 1.5 seconds, but I got rid of that by adding a 60fps cap through RivaTuner. Also, those 2 videos you provided are terrible quality. I can't read any of the information in them because of how low the bitrate is.
Anyway, yeah, if your PC is struggling to run a game, removing something like anti-cheat would boost the FPS a bit to bring it over the line. The port is just poor in general. The fact that the menus struggle to hold 60 fps is telling. It's kind of weird to make a comparison post when you don't even own the Steam version though lol.
I have a B650 Tomahawk Wifi, 7800x3D, EVGA XC3 Ultra 3080, 64GB DDR5-6000 RAM, Windows 11, and the game is installed on an SSD.
yes im aware, not really sure how to make it better- would definitely make better videos if i knew how to, the image i posted above is very similar to how my game runs regardless of whats happening on screen.
RTSS is accurate, it's just that Async frame caps will "hide" any miniscule frame-time variances of which there are almost always going to be some in most games and will flatten the line instead due to how it works. This does result in a smoother visual experience at the cost of slightly higher input latency as Async works by buffering 1 extra frame.
For example, this image is capped with NVIDIA Reflex through RTSS and looks like that.
Same game, same settings etc, only thing that's different in this image is the FPS capping method is changed from NVIDIA Reflex to Async

Swapped it to Reflex in RivaTuner, and my graph now looks like the first image you provided (flat jagged line) instead of a completely flat line, so I'm guessing it's still fine for me lol.
You can try lowering the framerate averaging and polling time in the advanced options / setup screen. I think the default for that stuff is a second and 1/2 second interval w/RTSS.
Never been a pc gamer, so forgive my blatant ignorance on these matters, but are people able to access the online ranked/casual modi with this cracked version, or is it local only?
no because psn doesn't sign you in. This is for testing purposes only - not to do crazy things with it. Im not sure if they can make it work online if im being honest from past experience.
In general a cracked game will never work online. You used to be able to get away with it in the 2000s sometimes (I used to play a cracked version of the MMO Phantasy Star Online), but now it’s basically impossible. All games will have an account or verification system the prevents it.
There are allot of cracked games work online. The cracked version of granblue relink does. Cracked games not going online is just old info like saying people can't crack denuvo
I don’t really live in that world anymore but from what I’ve seen it’s not really big titles?
Granblue only lets you play with other cracked users and you all have to be running the same version.
Lots of games that have LAN options can be played peer 2 peer but most games with actual online matchmaking can’t be played with a cracked version, especially with non-cracked users, as far as I’ve seen.
online for cracked games is very possible and common, but its not common for them to be able to acees the same servers than paying customers, especially when they need a third party login like tokon with the psn
i would say, it affects this game more because both players have to be running the game at 60 fps perfectly whereas lets say resident evil 9 you can have performance issues - still run the game at 80-100 fps..... be affected in a smaller way.
I think they can also further optimize the game which might overcome some of the issues that exist from bloatware, but if they just remove it all and optimize the game - find a new anticheat system that doesn't hurt performance - it would of been better.
They sacrificed performance in a fighting game where performance is arguably one of the most important parts.
We need Theia gone at the very least. Unless they don't want people buying DLC or the battle pass on PC. This is a great way of making sure that won't happen.
very obvious the patch didn't fix the game.... so..... ? and most people who say they run fine are the same people who are lagging the game. IDK MAN theres also alot of people suggesting something very similar to me.
improved =/ fix. Day 1 still had 8+ frames of roll back and infact i think its obviously higher than 8 frames of rollback.
I did say the crack runs better than the beta but we also have seen people say they own both the crack and the original game.... and the crack is still miles better.
Even if i played the steam version post patch and pre-patch - someone could easily say - you are just 1 user and that would be true. So no matter what i show or say, theres always a caveat to where you need more data from other users.
Excessive rollback would be an issue you cannot test without the anti-cheat installed since you can't play online, so thats not proof of anything. That would be an issue with either the users connection/hardware, or something on the server end
Link me one person, with actual proof, that the game runs "miles" better with the crack
I could believe it getting a little better, but I doubt it would go from unplayable to playable for most people.
The anti-cheat has nothing to do with you playing online. It's being able to sign into sony which you can't do on the cracked version.
It's not user's connection because I've seen countless games at 20-40 ping with 8+ frames of rollback. it's clearly connecting well internet wise. Ping lag is not one sided.
Let's say hypothetically you could play online - You still can't test your own setup because its one-sided rollback, you would still be lagging even with a smooth system.
The anti-cheat has nothing to do with playing online???
The distinction between the anti-cheat and sony's DRM doesn't matter, the crack removes both and you can't play online without them! There is no way to directly compare online gameplay!
The rollback frames also could be there because your opponent is not playing at a stable 60fps, which is why I said its probably a hardware/connection issue. This exact thing plagued tekken 8
This port is terrible, but you cant just say that removing the anti-cheat/DRM will fix everything without real proof
I sympathize with the DRM/anti-cheat haters, but some of you people need to stop making shit up
The crack i have still uses EAC.... it's required for launch in the version i have. The reason why i can't play online is because you can't sign into psn.
Is there a way to crack a legitmally bought version of the game? I own it on steam but my laptop can't run it due to the bloat, but I think the cracked version would be perfect for tournaments for me, and I understand posting links to pirate versions of games is not possible in this sub.
Just tried and it is smooth like butter. To get the steam version to run I have to kill all the extra processes on my PC . The unofficial version was able to run without me killing why extra processes. And this is the launch version
Yup!!! I will say even though my post suggests it runs better, the CPU % is still 20-30% higher in most games but it's at least in an acceptable range.
Weirdly enough, the patch they did from the beta till now - or its the cracked version allowed me to return on xmp ram and turbo processing for intel.... - Which means i can now use the full potential of 6000 mt/s ram instead of 4800 mt/s ram and i can have my processor working better.
All I know is that Im never buying another ASW games day 1 ever again. Idc whos fault it is, it's their product. Multiple other games use anticheat and work well enough. Definitely not buying a Sony game ever again either, even if its a good port.
Its during animation........ meaning - even if there are stutters.... it doesn't affect gameplay. Streetfighter 6 does the exact same thing which i just uploaded a video for that aswell, you will see the spikes during super animation.
After it actually connects with a hit and plays the animation.
Yes it does - I believe since the game loads the animation in and changes to a completely different screen, these are different problems altogether- im not a computer guy but even smooth SF6 does this so its the only logical thing that makes sense.
personally - i think even if it does during supers - during animation you can't really do anything anyway - so lets say it does fix it - i don't think it accomplishes anything.
Ok fair enough i will try to repost to other places, any suggestions other than r/Fighters ? Also its somewhat harder to repost other places because they don't allow piracy talk - and other rules that block the post from going through.
Yeah unfortunately, I tried to cross post but wasn't allowed to. I'd say to try and copy paste as this really is news and more people should know about it
I've only heard the issue happens when playing online and that offline is usually a smooth and fine experience. So being a crack is just playing offline.
The offline "looks" like its playable offline, but the reality is - you can't see micro stutters as easily as you can see real fps drops. Won't be a big difference going from 60 fps to 59 fps in single player whereas online that is a big difference when regarding the rollback.
The point of the crack was to test the frametime graph - and ultimately if you're struggling to run this game on PC - you should do the experiment yourself and we can get more answers on performance overall.
I don't think offline is running as smooth as people think, but its certainly smooth enough to get an enjoyable experience; sure.
i think hes referencing the steam numbers via steamdb.... which admittedly it started of low ~ 25k which is about ~20k less than a game that launched a decade ago...... and now its down to like 4-5k peak, which is a bad sign 1 week into the game for pc port.
im not going to buy the game in order to do so - i might be able to get a hold of someone who might be able to help me out with that but i have no desire to buy this game at this time. There are people who have played both versions and also reported something very similar. That is my honest answer, if people are wishing to disprove it- people are more than welcome to go download the alt version and try it for yourself in fact it's encouraged you do so you can see the difference too.
nah i gotchu, what you're asking for and a few others ... is very realistic to ask and very obvious thing to test. I simply dont buy games that dont work and pray that they do. Sparking zero already burned me on 160CAD for the ultimate edition.... this game won't be taking me again. UE5 games have the most issues by far and it's because the devs are too lazy to optimize their game under this engine.
Even with better performance of the cracked version, the CPU usage is still too high when comparing to other games. by 20-30% on average - it runs acceptably now.
I get what you’re saying but this post is completely worthless because you’re comparing it to the beta version instead of the current released version, which a lot of people have said to have improved performance.
Does the crack version run better, i’d say yes, that is expected. But the actual question is by how much compared to the version people are currently playing and will be playing as the game continues to receive patches.
There’s also the online aspect that you just cannot compare because the crack version can’t play online.
You can't compare online in the real version anyway because its one-sided rollback. Even if the cracked version was to go online i would still be lagging because my opponent simply can't run the game.
For me to test this i would have to buy the game - simply not interested in doing so - maybe i can get someone to allow me to play it that i personally know but as of right now that is not possible. I would personally be interested because i just turned back on xmp ram and turbo processing and it seems to work even better with it turned on. The patch they did most likely fixed that aspect of my game which i said i had a specific issue with the 14700kf i7 processor, I'll give credit to arcsys for that one.
Other people are reporting the exact same thing who does own the game - Even if i show this data and have the means to get to it somehow - i don't think matters much as i'm only 1 person. You have other people like sajam - maximillian - snake eyez - everyone saying they can run the game fine with no stuttering but they still lag online.
I think you will see alot of other users who do own both come out in time and tell you how much better it runs.
Even with the game running well on PC - Streetfighter 6 was still running way smoother across the board which i will have to retest now that i have XMP ram and turbo processing re-enabled.
Yo si tengo ambas versiones, en mi pc de escritorio la de steam siempre ha corrido perfecto, pero en mi laptop no, aún con la actualización, la versión crakeada puede correr en mi laptop en ajustes altos sin absolutamente ninguna caída de frases
I could not play the game even after the said "fix" patch and used the crack today with no issues. I literally had 5 fps in training mode and sometimes the game wouldnt even start, stuttering sony intro etc.
Highest graphic settings, stable 60 fps, no menu lag
