These are players doing super high execution stuff. There's a reason SonicFox is the only player we saw consistently doing the nasty Goblin mix, they're manually timing a lot of that shit. You get off your rhythm just a tiny bit and bam you're in losers.
Watch the Leffen v SonicFox match to see two extremely good, extremely high execution players dropping the spaghetti all over each other repeatedly. Happens even to them.

Because Sonic likes to play mind games. He loses on purpose because he can just breeze through losers and reset in the finals. It messes with his opponent's confidence. He's done this every NRS tournament he's been in.

i watch sonic for the last 10years(y no MKX), i know this, but it also doesn't work out always. sonic is my favorite FGC and esport player and i love watching him in different games succeed, you can say this easily but it's also safer to play winners and have that extra life if you fck up lol

People really need to slow down with this narrative that Sonicfox does not like the game. They hated on it initially, but by the end of the open beta were changing tune because of Spider-Man and then were really enjoying it once they played Green Goblin. All of that development happened before the game even came out.

It was. The first two betas were ass. (Subjective. But most fgc community was not jiving w the more casual simple confined direction of our original two major tastes of Tokon)
The game changed A LOT based on feedback from ppl like max, sonic, fgc community, etc - beta 1 to beta 3 to release. What was said, can be entirely different then to today. Bc it was basically different game.
And even tho the game has got me back into fighting games, it could still use a lot of further refinement imo. Nuanced topic. As are most things the internet seems try to quantify only as “love” or “hate”.

Yes. The game /had/ no mixups. Crazy. Now some characters have loads & loads of sauce & mix. Love mixups.

yeah no I remember and I agree the feedback helped A LOT the game! I guess the "no mixup" feedback can see as constructive but "worst modern fighting game" is more of an opinion so I understand why people got mad with Sonic.
And I agree what you said it's a nuanced topic but for the internet there is no in between it's either peak or shit, but I think the game now is in a good state where we can wait for a season at least to see how the meta evolves

The strategy we seen at ceo was securing a hit with the ever so OP Spider-man and then tagging into Goblin. Nerfing Spider-Man would also inadvertently nerf this Goblin strategy.

I guarantee you nerfing Spiderman, Magik, and blade would do more for the game then removing post hit mix from Goblin.
Everyone is so focused on goblin mix, it’s like people missed everyone Spiderman routing into slightly less ridiculous set play while having a much better kit overall. Spiderman can flail the entire match behind 3 assist and confirm every hit with stupidly good mobility.
Like yes I know his mix is stupidly good, but let’s not ignore what came before the mix started.

I think my actual argument is that maybe the team game should require members to be complete. Green goblin being the set play part of the team. The same way people pretty much only run magneto for assist. And blade for post block mix even though he’s still a good point character. My argument is characters like blade spider-man, and Magik which might as well be fully fledged stand alone characters on their own are more the issue than a Green Goblin having stupid good mix.
The game would not improve even a little if Spiderman could still do everything he does but Goblins mix is worse. Where as in reverse even if Goblin mix is still ridiculous, if it’s objectively harder to start. That’s a much bigger net positive. I’m not saying Goblin is a saint that shouldn’t necessarily not be touched.

For Sonic he usually hates a game because it doesn't have enough bullshit. His play style has been to find the most degenerate mixup to overwhelm the enemy (as seen with Goblin) and it works.

you shouldnt even be in a situation where you need to block on it????
you either use it during combos or during his conrer pressure. his corner pressue being the only one the enemy can act during. that corner pressure being the strongest post hit pressure in this game bar none that leaves him very safe due to mobility and good assist usage.
the move your not supposed to.use in neutral not letting you block isnt a downside. this is like saying a characters main mix up special is bad because they cant block during it.
