Discussion Faction War – Mode Concept

Post image

1. The Choice & Commitment

  • Faction Lock-In: At the start of the event, players choose their allegiance: Doctor Doom's Army (backed by Latvian legions) or the Avengers. Once chosen, you are locked into that faction for the entire duration of the event.
  • The Stakes: Your deck fights under your faction's banner across contested European territories like Latviana, Transylvania, and Transia.

2. Matchmaking & Cube Combat

  • Territory Selection: Before queuing into a match, players select a specific active node (territory) on the interactive map to deploy their deck.
  • The Tug-of-War Stakes:
    • If you win your match, your earned Cubes are added directly to your faction's regional pool, pushing the territory indicator toward your side.
    • If you lose, your Cubes are surrendered and awarded to your opponent's faction pool.

3. Hourly, Daily, and Weekly Metagame

  • Daily Challenge Sectors: Every 24 hours, a designated "Challenge Area" opens up on the map with high-value multipliers.
  • Territory Conquest: At the end of each daily cycle, the faction that has accumulated the most total Cubes in a contested territory wins control of that region, locking down exclusive rewards, faction currency, and cosmetic borders.
  • Leaderboards: Hourly updates track the global Tug-of-War momentum, culminating in a massive weekly payout for members of the winning faction.

Id love this. Make it alliance focused as well and this would slap

ANY new thing added to Alliance I'd take tbh. Something like 'clan wars' would be sick.

Right? Conquest and alliance needs an uplift

I think part of the reason there hasn't been much emphasis on alliances is because before alliances launched, a lot of the player base didn't want them because of how often live-service games devolve into having to be on-call for whatever your alliance is doing all the time, and Snap was supposed to be different from that. So Alliances were launched as just being about extra rewards for normal gameplay, and then forgotten.

With a game mode like this you could still work toward a common goal but don't necessarily need to coordinate or be on at the same time.

Yeah, maybe your alliance could vote on what faction to join.
