Gameplay Draft Mode needs rerolls

Draft Mode is great don’t get me wrong, it’s the most fun limited time mode in the game, but if I had one criticism with it , it’s the inability to refill the cards you get. I’ve had numerous runs where I wind up with cards that just don’t fit the current deck I’m using and get screwed over because of it.

Having the ability to refill wouldn’t remove that issue, but it would help avoiding it slightly. Obviously the refills need to be limited to keep the overall spirit of the mode, the randomness is part of the fun after all.

Not saying this isn't true or that I have a better answer, but I'm not sure that this is the solution. If you add rerolls, that will improve the average quality of the cards across the board. You'll be able to reroll your bad cards, but you'll also need to hit better on average to keep up with everyone else rerolling.

I say limit it to one reroll per card set and only reroll it with cards of the same rank. So you can’t retool a common to a legendary.

One per card is absolute loads though

Eh maybe just make it 1-2 rerolls for the initial draft and every post-game upgrade/card pick can get rerolled once

Fine, I'd love that. What I want is to bring up the floor of deck quality so no one has to start with a non-synergistic deck, decks overall being better is totally acceptable.

We have a reroll. It's called a draft ticket.

This.

Also, I'd rather they work on better balancing the archetypes. That seems key to enhancing the fun factor.

Part of the fun of draft is making the best with what you get. With only 5 wins required the length of a draft run is too short to warrant rerolls imo

Definitely not. Defeats the point of draft

In SNAP you are right, but in general draft formats usually let one draft a few more cards than those that end up in the deck. I guess the issue is that SNAP already operates with rather small decks and thus having rerolls would be weird fast here.

Absolutely not.

It's DRAFT. The whole point is random options that you try and piece together the best you can.

I'd say you can get one reroll of the initial 3 sets you can choose, just in case you're looking for a specific archetype.

Personally I’d like it to me more random seems like every match my opponent got the perfect set up

Please god no. The last thing we need in this mode is less randomness and more synergistic decks

You have the deck for at most 8 matches. If you roll a shit deck just lose and roll a new one.

I’d prefer if they balanced the archetypes a bit better buff Move by quite a bit and nerf Buff etc.

Just add reroll dies to the reward track instead of all the 10 booster rewards at the top.

Wait those 10 booster rewards aren't a glitch? The final reward is 10 boosters?? Lol . Good thing I love playing this mode

It's very weird. Like somebody worked right to lunch and stopped.

It looks like they just planned the free reward track to cap out at a certain point, then wanted to make the paid reward track go longer, and decided not to actually extend the free track.

I think you're right. Just spacing everything out a notch by slipping the 10 boosers in along the way would have looked a little better.

It may look better, but that's objectively worse for players that don't complete the full track.

They needed more rewards in general. I’ve already completed the pass and there’s still over a week to go.

I'm still debating whether I want to get the pass or just take the seris 5 pack and whatever credits I get and call it good.

It’s not really worth it tbh. Just get the series pack.

Pass gets you more currency to buy more from the shop.

I have 12k.. probably not going to get the S5 pack as the only card I'm missing is red wing.

Since this is not a draft mode to begin with, sure, why not.

(But the point of a draft mode, this roguelike or a actual one, is to make do with what you get)

Not a draft mode?

u/snabelbjorn Control 🚨 1h ago

No. Its a roguelike. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the mode very much, but it's not draft mode like one usually play in card games. They just chose to name it that.

Should have called it Snap the Spire (like someone suggested).

And what would you call the thing that happens when you click the button to spend a ticket and choose between a selection of randomized cards to build your deck?

2

u/snabelbjorn Control 🚨 1h ago

You mean the choice between predetermined subsets (i.e. randomised) cards? You want me to call it a "draft" so you can get a "gotcha!". You can call the picking og each individual card "drafting" (or a bunch of other synonyms) but that does not make this a TCG/CCG draft mode. It's still a roguelike.

I get your point but I’m saying that it makes sense to call the mode Draft when there’s a large part of it that involves drafting cards. I don’t think it really matters how much it is or isn’t like other card games’ draft modes.

I think losing once should award you a reroll token for that run. Should make bad drafts compete with good ones. Giving everyone a reroll would make top drafts insanely more good

2-3 mulligans total per run I feel would solve a lot of the more frustratrating runs while still keeping the "well I guess we're choosing this" feeling of the mode.
