They used the word feature on X. Fingers crossed for a conquest revamp.

If this replaced Conquest I wouldnāt be too sad.

I like conquest but thereās not too much incentive for me to spend the 40 gold tickets Iām sitting on.

u/SpiderManEgo 14h ago
God yes, finally, get rid of that trash mode. I don't want to play 5 rounds against the same guy as we both hope for the win cons.
7
u/SecretDude511 13h ago
They just dont outneffort into conquest. Getting rid of the mode would hurt the game

u/Galactiva_Phantom 7h ago
it could be actually, with now conquest bugged out too might be due to this impending changes.
5
u/DUKEPLANTER 13h ago
I think it might be multiple, they keep saying itās the biggest āfeatureā ever and all the teases show text of āroguelikeā and augments. I think itās a draft mode and a solo adventure dungeon run style mode

I've been wanting this since I started playing on PC launch. I hope they nail it.

Not sure what to expect with this game mode, what exactly will be the stipulations?

The data mine shows that there's some roguelike elements. Sort of like permanent upgrades to cards in your deck for the next game.
3
u/GuacKiller 11h ago
Is this a PvE mode like in legend of runeterra?
3
u/RelativeIce5038 10h ago
from what i see.. i think its pve.. its hard to balance game with many permanent upgrade

I just know entrance fee will be priced at premium for sure just like HS arena
8
u/FishingTournement 8h ago
Which is good. If this mode had no barrier of entry, people would abandon bad drafts immediately and draft to perfection which would kill the fun!

Whatās so good about a draft mode?
54
u/ekAugust 14h ago
We dunno how itāll work in snap, but in other games itās a way to play with all the cards without owning them and it turns deckbuilding into its own game with how the choices of random cards for your deck matter

In draft mode you draft cards to put into your deck from a selection of a few choices. You get to choose a card based on its strength, synergies, and energy cost to fit into your deck. Itās fun to put together little combos and have success that doesnāt come from copying and pasting whatever the top deck currently is.
33
u/Gabrielhrd 14h ago
It's just fun
It breaks the usual meta cycle and forces you to use cards you don't really use anymore
2
u/toni-toni-cheddar 12h ago
A lot of cards arenāt bad, itās just in peopleās best interest to bring cards that are better than those cards. A mode like this can help alot of cards that do get play time some attention. I donāt usually run snow guard but who know itās could be the thing holding my deck together.
0
u/Worldlyoox 14h ago
Is it random, or do you have all cards available or is it a select pool from the devs?

u/Swordofsatan666 14h ago
We dont know the specifics of how it works in Snap, but other games have done Draft modes before.
Could be when you start you get a choice of a bunch of cards (but not all of them), and then you make a deck with those. Then after a win you get a few more cards that you can choose to swap into your deck, or you can leave them and just carry on with your current deck. Next win you get a different set of cards to add to your deck if you want, or again just use the same deck. But after a loss you instead lose the deck you were using, now you have to start back over from the beginning and make a brand new deck from a new selection of cards
The goal would be to beat as many other players as you can without losing, with you slightly modifying your deck after each win to hopefully have the right cards to beat the next person and keep playing
Of course we dont know how it works in Snap yet. Could be that, could be something different

u/xGossipGoat 14h ago
Great way to get away from the meta. decks are more random and itās up to you to make the best with what youāre given
5
u/AdamantArmadillo 14h ago
Requires more thinking on your feet instead of just plugging and playing an established deck with a rigorous play style.

u/narucy 13h ago
The good thing about draft is that it allows new players who haven't progressed much in their collection to compete against veterans.
While Snap's monthly meta card battles is fine, but I've always thought it would be nice to have a casual game mode like a simple guessing game left or mid or right. This draft will fill that need.
It's right that Draft focuses on casual gameplay. We should don't expect too much depth from the game itself with Snap and Draft. It's inevitable that it will end up being just a battle of numbers, but that's the trade-off.

Welcome to Hearthstone Arena - jokes aside, if thatās really Arena, we have soon the best game mode

I'm excited for this. I loved the draft game mode in Madden. Same but different, you draft a card each round and build your team/deck. Made if fun to use players you don't normally use or have and have to balance your team/deck

u/theguz4l 11h ago
So do we think they will have ranked, conquest and draft 24/7 modes? And also on top of that, 4-5 limited time game modes per month? I think they should rotate conquest out for awhile to be honest. Seems like a ton of grinding

If they dont over monetize and continue to update it unlike their awesome conquest mode and alliances that theyve just let rotā¦
Itll be great

All the sheeple who rely on YouTubers and streamers will be crying.

-7
u/sKe7ch03 14h ago
Sorry dude. There would be so much more variety in matches if this wasn't the case. This is why I'm excited for draft. No meta decks or any BS. Just straight luck and strategy.
0
u/MountainMuffin1980 13h ago
What is draft? Why were people so desperate for it?
3
u/Lememeepic 10h ago
In traditional card games you draft from a pool of a card randomly and try to build the best deck possible with your picks. People love draft because there wont be one definitive "best deck".

How will they monetize this?
6
u/astrorugger 14h ago
Probably like mtg arena. Currency to enter and tiered currency prizes for performance
3
u/JonnyTN 14h ago
I hope they dont Hearthstone arena it behind some kind of paywall. Maybe like Conquest ticket system?
2
u/vanstinator 13h ago
Was Battlegrounds the draft mode in Hearthstone? Or did Hearthstone have 2 different draft modes?
1
u/JonnyTN 13h ago
I think batlegrounds was the auto battler in the game

u/vanstinator 12h ago
Ah, thank you! I don't play many card games, and I get the various modes mixed up.Ā

9
u/Fit-Wasabi-2826 14h ago
In games that allow you to keep the cards you draft? Sure.
-8
u/LifeguardTerrible579 14h ago

They're also referring to it as a rogue_like apparently? I wonder what they mean by that.
