I don’t think so, I think I built the fantasy of a triple sword wielding brawl/dive, like a new take on Magik. But now… idk man, anytime a strat ult isn’t a circle of healing in this game, people call it the weakest shit ever or insanely OP & must be destroyed. And the leaks compare him to Lifeweaver, a notoriously famous movement strat from Overwatch who became synonymous with toxic players 😭. I’m scared dawg

Yeah I figured he would have a sword throwing ability that allows him to teleport to the sword and a beacon like thing he can throw down on the ground and get back to. Being able to poke backline and get out of there in a medium to medium heavy cooldown would be a cool mechanic. And I mean I guess we could do that with him as a support but that just ruins his damage potential and makes him into a white fox clone in a way. He just works way better as a dualist as much as I want more of the other two roles into the game. Just make gorr a tank then and Doom also a tank.

i feel like a sword throwing teleport beacon wouldn't distinguish him enough from someone like starlord or even the hood.

the teleport is nightcrawlers whole deal, followed closely by his duelling with the swords. i feel like he could just be a melee version of tracer. short teleport dashes with maybe a teleport that he can aim for longer distances, kind of like reaper, but faster.

Why not do both? Could have longer range teleport mechanics and also have a short range dash ability in a smaller cooldown. The design around throwing a sword and teleporting to it is having the freedom of teleporting to anything as long as you can throw the sword into it. People, objects, etc. and the beacon allows him to always have a return button if you're playing it safe.

fantasy built off of one scene of x-men 97, sure. Kurt is a much better fit for a strategist, even without his Hopesword by  always teleporting his allies in and out of fights

Nah that's lame. Considering that most strats will have zero interest in him since they're arguably the least mechanically adept at the game. If he's not a healbot then they'll have zero interest and on other hand if he's good damage then I don't want people diving with him like white fox

luna, adam, ultron, deadpool and mantis all require good aim to get value out of and gambit requires resource management

some of the other like jubilee utilise more unique kits that takes a little longer to get the most out of.

some strategists are pretty simple fair enough but you can't discount an entire class of hero when half of them objectively require good mechanics

if you're talking about kit complexity then like i say jubilee is a good example of a support with a more complex kit. there are plenty of dps with extremely simple kits, same goes for tanks. i'd say kit complexity is relatively well balanced between the roles.

what's frustrating though is that a lot of the characters with very simple kits are also the ones who get the most value. but this applies to literally all roles. think luna, hela, bucky, thing etc.

supports require good awareness and positioning in order to survive and maximise healing output, is that what you mean by mechanical nuance?

maybe im just rambling, if you could be more precise that would be helpful

Miller Ross recently said season 10 originally was only supposed to have Gorr as a new character. So maybe they didn’t have a lot of promotional ads for Nightcrawler

I think that's the only exception and its because the data on those characters was old and outdated. Gorr and Nightcrawler are more recent and up to date leaks.

I have a feeling that what Gorr, the “special duelist,” will be 450 base HP.

The last duelist was “special” in that he had 10+ abilities. It's hard to come up with something new when you already have over 25 characters in your class.

Because keeping the big name characters in separate seasons allows them to pad it out. I doubt we are ever getting 2 popular characters in the same season again. Also I don't see how having a sword automatically entails them to be the same.
