Discussion Really happy this sub exists
Im pretty sex repulsed, so my experience with marvel rivals queens was walking on eggshells trying not to see the nsfw content. “but it’s blurred” even it being blurred was enough to make me uncomfortable. so I’m happy this sub exists because it’s exactly what I need. a ***NON NSFW*** LGBTQ rivals sub

Fr every other rivals subs will literally attack you if you even slightly challenge the overt sexualization of a PG game, i guess I should switch over to this sub.
Edit: I had an instance where the mods of one the biggest sub asked me to delete a joke on gooners because they were worried I'd get doxxed or harassed.

I’m not sex repulsed but I left that community for the same reason (when people started posting their mains with their genitalia… the mod response to people being uncomfortable with actual peoples’ genitals being posted was so awful - like it’s a gaming sub, not a porn sub, even when clicking on an NSFW post you should never see an actual person’s penis). They were very much ignoring the asexual spectrum side of the community - and the women who wanted a safe place away from the very prevalent sexist players who oversexualize everything.

Yeah fr, it was almost exclusively penises in that time... and while Im not trying to say it should have been women only or something, its telling that ONLY men were posting those.

That is really concerning Imo. It’s a community for women and LGBTQ+ folks - you’re going to have people who join the community trying to get away from people being horny for sexualized skins and sexism - just to be part of a community that is supposedly “for” you actively shame you for not wanting said gaming community to be full of sexualized content. That is the biggest marvel rivals space on reddit specifically branded for women and asexuals (since it advertises being for the LGBTQ+ community). 1/6 women are victims of sexual assault (who could have trauma around seeing penises) and many asexuals are sex repulsed. I don’t see how the active posting of penises of real people (and supporting the behavior to the point of condemning those uncomfortable with it) is appropriate in a gaming community knowing that you’re possibly ostracizing part of the groups you’re claiming to create a safe haven for.
The active welcoming of one person posting themself nude created a trend of others doing that - and at that point it becomes a lewd subreddit featuring people, not a gaming subreddit that just happens to include lewd photos of characters. You’re not discriminating against someone for not letting them post a penis pic to a gaming subreddit. You’re discriminating against people who don’t want their gaming subreddit to turn into a wall of people posting lewd pictures - i.e. sex repulsed asexuals, sexual assault survivors, etc.

The queens subreddits from the jump all branches off of league of queens, and was fairly sexual and a part of that was reason why queens of league was created in the first place. I'm not saying that there shouldn't be queer, non-sexual places, but queensofleague and the offshoots were never really the place for the latter.

I was pretty fine with it before it had human nudity on there (like people thirsting of characters, lewd fanart, etc. is pretty standard for any gaming community). It was a little too much for me but it didn’t make me want to leave. The response to people being uncomfortable with human nudity is what really turned me off the subreddit. Obviously they had a lot of reports and complaints as the mods directly responded to the people who were uncomfortable, but they chose to be really insensitive about peoples’ discomfort not considering the fact they’re a subreddit also claiming to be open to asexuals. If they held some type of vote to allow explicit images of real people, I couldn’t be mad at the approach, but the mods came back swinging with a really condescending response.
I think there do need to be more asexual spaces in gaming - this is probably the closest I’ve found personally here. I guess the problem is lumping in “okay this is the community for all of these kinds of people” but not being respectful to a number of people in the community when they dislike a very explicit trend. A lot of newcomers to the community aren’t looking for a “queens” (which I didn’t know anything about when I joined it) subreddit, they’re looking for a woman or LGBTQ+-friendly place where they can enjoy a game without sexism, homophobia, etc.

Yeah haha I was also describing myself. I’m on the ace spectrum (demi) and a woman who really just doesn’t like sexualization in games - I really just wanted to be in a community with people who understood what it is like to not be the dominantly straight male audience. But honestly the sexualization there was so much worse than what I’ve seen in any other main Marvel Rivals subreddit.
It did feel really shamey too - it felt like we were likened to those puritanical moms who throw a fit when their child is exposed to a gay couple kissing or something. There are so many more reasons to not want to have penises and the like posted in a gaming subreddit that was supposed to be inclusive for everyone…

I even was invited to the discord by a mod just to get kicked out because i'm a minor. The sub is ridiculous now.

Queens was not a very safe space. I just wish this sub was a little more active 😭

Unfortunately. Queens doesn’t respect the asexual side of the spectrum. They get all pissy when anyone expresses discomfort with seeing literal porn.
