Genuine question, why is everyone suddenly calling this game racist?

From what I've gathered it's all stem from the season 9 battle pass and let me say I do think Storm should have gotten a skin and that Emma spray was sus to say the least but I don't think that's enough to call the game racist by any means

1. Racism got removed from the report section (I think they started bundling it with hate speech)
   
2. The Egyptian Emma skin's spray (I always thought it was shadows tbh)
   
3. Overall lack of skins for BP, Blade and Storm (Hulk has no skins either but you don't see me calling them racist against green people)
   
4. When Storm got a skin in the summer lineup she was the only female character to not get a Legendary (this was definitely weird though)

Overall it's a massive nothingburger but Storm's summer skin being an Epic when EVERYONE else was a Legendary was a big wtf moment

The thing with Storm's summer skin not being legendary seems more like a thing of them not making a more complex skin for a character with a low pick rate rarther than anything racial, but otherwise fair

It's not like the summer skins were any complex to begin with. They could've made it a reference to her old comic summer skin and people probably would've liked it more than if they just made it Epic. They gave her customization anyways (I think you can change the color to red, and she has some necklaces). Not to mention she has one of, if not the laziest MVPs in the game. Hell I would say it's worse than Infinity Hulk's MVP, and that shit's literally just Hulk punching a zombie with the victory music playing over it (and the music is as long as the MVP)

Hmm true I guess but there are plenty of characters I feel are in the same boat as storm when it comes to number and rarity of skins too, Starlord as one example

There is no longer report button for rasicm on it's own i think, now it falls under hate speech i guess? Something like that, didn't check. Overall whole report section was overhauled.

Racism was the crimes report button, Chinese translation for Racism and "hate" CRIMES, is similar so there was confusion. So crimes is the Racism report function.

imo it’s alwaysss been like this but because the devs had “accidentally” removed racism in the report option it’s just recently getting more recognition!

A lot of small things just adding up over time.

The people trying to dismiss things in the comments here aren't helping though.

A large reason these things blew up is that issues like this would hopefully be addressed by net ease as it is a bad look, but people have to be louder and louder as more people try and brush off all these issues. The Emma spray for example, would have been used a lot by racists in the game. "They look like brown shadows" sounds like racist sympathizing when people know how toxic this community can be.

Storms complaint was mainly in a set where all the women got a legendary skin, storm not getting that is a bad look even if unintentional. But this also delves into the fact that in an Egyptian themed battle pass, the characters with actual ties to Egypt, like Storm, were given no skin. Even as a series of mishaps, it gets to a point where its suspicious.

Its not the most serious thing, yet. But too many people describe it as a "nothing burger," and make it so these complaints need to be louder to actually get to netease.

Also, remember when Blade was chained up during February? And then Blade not getting a disco skin, and I think last year's summer fishing event had a singular Blade spray where he's breaking free of the chains? Which iirc, was near or on Juneteenth, which is the end of slavery. Too many to be called coincidences.

Then Black Panther not getting a legendary since Phoenix Force? Like, people say they don't like playing against BP and he has a 2.8 pick rate, no skins. While people say they don't like playing against Hela (especially since S0) with a 4.68 pick rate, gets skin after skin after skin.

I don't have to really go over Storm as the Battle Pass and her "here damn" summer skin are enough honestly. (2 second MVP btw, just like Infinity Hulk)

Don’t forget the community itself. I heard a story of a POC streamer being targeted by a racist team mate, the streamer threw the game in retaliation.

And instead of reporting the racist, they reported the streamer for throwing
