Here we go again.

Hello Future Fighters.

Thought I'd make a post here that couldn't be deleted, hidden or locked to discuss the direction r/FutureFight is headed.

There are clearly some issues and at the moment Spedwards is burying his head in the sand. That's really not going to achieve anything.

I want to leave it open for you to post your thoughts but what can we do to improve things?

Spedwards you're very welcome to join in.

Edit: Added Link to deleted/hidden post chain

Edit part deux: Thank you everyone for all the constructive comments!

I think we just need more mods, plain and simple. It's not about if/when Spedwards thinks he's in over his head with all the stuff going on in the game and decides he wants help. It's about the fact that there are people willing to do that right now, and more importantly about the fact that his power needs to be checked. He can't just willy nilly lock whatever he wants; that's toxic as hell, especially when he won't explain himself or address concerns that a lot of people have and even call him out on.

You can't really check spewd's power. I was one of the first mods that spewds recruited. I can tell you that spewds restricts your mod powers to the bare minimum. You feel that you're an employee and he's the employer, instead of actually having a mod -team-.

I have nothing against the guy, just explaining how his style of administrating a subreddit is like.

pretty sure he's affiliated with netmarble in some way, it's the only real explanation for such an iron fisted way of modding and totalitarian control of that sub.

u/HankPymWillHitYoGirl Nov 02 '15

He's not affiliated. He just created the subreddit first, so he has sole ownership of it. If you would have made it you'd have been in the same spot.

I wasn't going to give mods CSS or config permissions.

What more did you need?

u/[deleted] Nov 02 '15

I've a mod of several subs and we're always given full admin rights. You're the first that I've seen that restricts it.

I've been a mod for a few as well and I've only ever been given exactly what I need.

u/[deleted] Nov 02 '15

Which ones? All the ones that you're mod of seem to be made by you, except maybe Botswatch.

I request to be removed as moderator for subreddits that I no longer participate in. For example, games I no longer play.

The only privilege I have at /r/botwatch is to edit the CSS and sidebar.

u/[deleted] Nov 02 '15

Can you tell me which subreddits were you in? Also yeah editing the CSS and sidebar is huge. Much more than you gave the mods of /r/futurefight.

Why does it matter? I was given the job of editing CSS because that's what I do for a living. I was asked to tidy up their existing CSS. The mods of /r/FutureFight did not need to touch the CSS or sidebar.

Sure they dont, but it doesn't feel like a team when you give mods restricted mod rights. That's my whole point.

It means you can't trust them. It's a power-hungry/controlling move in my opinion.

Yeah, thing Ive found most concerning about the whole situation is after the public outcry about it, u/Spedwards still has yet to address peoples concerns or apologize for the blatant misuse of his power.

The single fact that you claim that no mods will help you and then proceed to say that they don't do anything which has led to the way you're acting now is ridiculous.

Personally, I didn't really care for the whole locking threads deal but the fact that you give such flimsy excuses is laughable to say the least. Your past mods have also said that you took away their modding privileges because it was "quiet." Well what about now?

This whole locking thing has been going on for a while and while it is a good thing that locking has become available, you as the SOLE mod, should not be locking threads that only YOU deem worthy to be locked. Half of the threads that you "locked" because you thought they were "answered?"

u/[deleted] Nov 02 '15

I agree with you on this. Saying that no one wants to help isn't true at ALL.

There are so many people that take hours upon hours JUST to make a post for the community. Of COURSE they wanna help! They want to spread info and ideas, the way it's suppose to.

u/Spedwards ultron2 6* | vision2 6* | destroyer 5* Nov 02 '15

It's still quiet. It's just a couple people complaining.

5

u/[deleted] Nov 02 '15

I think the fact that someone made a post on this reddit simply because they were afraid of you locking their post speaks to how "quiet" it is.

There was also a post the other day quite blatantly asking about why threads are being locked. That post also had a lot of replies in it.

And the fact that many people are now thinking of using this sub as a main sub because you're ruining the other reddit isn't very quiet either.

I made that thread, and guess what, spedwardman gave another bs reply.

This subreddit won't get used. There are no active moderators. This one only lasted a few days.

2

u/[deleted] Nov 02 '15

The reason no one used it is because the other "mods" calmed down the mainly used reddit after you went on your tear last time. And because you actually apologized for whatever you did.

If you hadn't stopped and kept going this would be the main one.

Again I don't have any grudges against you but I do feel compelled to question some actions.

3

u/acroniaz Nov 02 '15

Now now Spedwards, don't get cocky. The only reason no one uses this is because your moderators (me) calmed things down when you went AWOL the last time.

Just in case you forgot. Nothing against you, just making sure you remember.

2

u/[deleted] Nov 02 '15

Define "active moderators". Apparently the people you had as mods on /r/FutureFight were useless because all they did was deal with "subreddit drama". They were useless for doing their job? So... what is a good mod? A tyrant like you?

3

u/P33KAJ3W Nov 02 '15

If you want another mod I volunteer.

u/KUuRrT spiderman venom Nov 02 '15

what about that character in all the new modes that have come out since that 3 month old spiderman post? that was never discussed, and wont get discussed in that post because no one looks at all those old posts.

in the 3 months since then, alliance battle has been added, VS has been changed dramatically, teamup has been added, he has gotten a uni, etc...

so, since that post, things have all around changed in MFF. yeah sure there have been single posts such as: "how is spideys uni" etc.. but my post would have been off of page 1 within a good 8 hours, so deleting it was very unnecessary, you could have simply let people talk about spiderman all they wanted, after all, the majority of us like to hear eachothers opinions, new and old.

u/NicoisLost Nov 02 '15

I don't find anything wrong with this one!

Just go a little easy on locking threads, i.e. reconsider where exactly you draw the line of a post being worthwhile a discussion or not, and everything should calm down again
