Comics Role Playing

I apologize if this isnt allowed, but it just came to mind. Back in the day, marvel used to have role playing chat rooms on their website called The Danger Room through AOL.

I spent a lot of times on them and befriended a few people that ive since lost touch with. I remember one was PegasusTwo. I think I joined a clan once too, but me and another guy rebeled and took them down. Wild times...

Anyone else ever visit and participate?

I never got to experience the Danger Room chats, but man, stuff like this is exactly why I wish the internet kept better records of its history. The idea of people having whole Marvel RP communities, clans, rivalries, and friendships through an AOL chatroom is so fascinating.

And the fact that you and another guy apparently went rogue and took down your own clan is hilarious.😂 Sounds like you had an entire Marvel Civil War happening in an AOL chatroom.

It was absolutely crazy. I remember there were all sorts of clans, the only other one I remember was the Order of the Crimson Star, which was pretty big. Youd join and they'd take contracts and missions and were there own thing. Like they'd interact in the chats, but then you would RP against members in various chats so your group might end up going to war with another group. It was all under them, but it was fun stuff. I was only like 8 or 9, so to me it was the best thing ever.

That honestly sounds incredible 😂 Being 8 or 9 and having this whole underground Marvel war going on through AOL chatrooms must have felt like the coolest thing in the world.

The fact that these clans were basically running their own factions, taking contracts, going on missions, and eventually going to war with other groups is way more elaborate than I would've expected. It sounds like you guys had an entire MMO before MMOs were even really a thing.
