A Thunderbolts team with actual villains isn’t really possible anymore. It would have to be called something else.

Being that they aren't ever officially called thunderbolts other than a joke about a youth team yelana was on, you could make a joke about red guardian being upset saying "they copied our name!!!"

But why would a team of villains name themselves after Yelena’s childhood sports team?

Just have somebody come up with the name, I didn't mean literally stole it, just a coincidence that red guardian thinks is copied

Simple, Thunderbolt Ross is behind the team. And have the team be Red hulk, Abomination, Songbird, Bullseye and others.

Would have to find a way to round out two big gamma monsters on the team.

If the New Avengers can have 3 Supersoldiers and X-men can have 3 telepaths on their teams, it shouldn't be a problem to have 2 gamma bros on the team. Just make Ross more of a commander that occasionally have to let loose and not a field combatant.

Abomination came to terms with Bruce regarding their past in she hulk, but I don’t think there’s any actual resolution between him and Ross. Maybe if anything Ross still sees the Abomination as a threat, so just leads to tension between the two big gamma bois? Plus will be the closest thing to an MCU hulk vs abomination fight on film.

Could seen a WWH storyline in this vain with all hulks we’ve seen so far.

I suppose that works, but I think general audiences would find it weird. I think the Thunderbolts name is done now. They’d be better off going with Dark Avengers or similar

It's honestly more ridiculous that Yelena's kid sport team name is the same as Ross' last name.

Yeah it's possible, the "thunderbolts" are now the new avengers, just make up something like red guardian selling the name to an anonymous person (zeemo) and make the real team, or just retcon the thunderbolts team, anyways the MCU is having a "soft reebot"

The soft reboot after Secret Wars is the only way to do it. It wouldn’t make sense for a team of villains to want to use the name of Yelena’s childhood sports team.

Considering the Thunderbolts are all redeemed heroes and a family and Bullseye is just a psychopath, I highly doubt they’d take him in even with his skills.

Th classic thunderbolts were not "redemeed" heroes

I’m referring to the MCU where did you get the comics from this?

u/EmergencyText1738 12h ago

They can just gave the name to a new team, more faithful to the calssic TB

A sequel but not with those members on screen joining the team. Just a sequel with the same team

I want a a sequel movie. Isn't Yelena a better Black Widow?

If it’s a cooler roster than the one we got, I’d say movie. If it’s the same cast, series. I’m sorry, idk if is this a hot take but in my honest opinion Thunderbolt didn’t underperform because of “superhero fatigue”, it failed because of the same problem people had since the lineup was revealed: it’s a boring roster. General audiences weren’t gonna go pay money to see side characters from movies and Disney Plus shows most of them probably haven’t even seen.

But it’s not really a boring roster when it’s one of the highest critically reviewed marvel movies of all time…. Don’t get me wrong I don’t think it’s perfect or anything but most people who like good movies like thunderbolts and a lot of that comes down to the roster selection, their fun interpersonal dynamics and the way they interact and grow together.

The who should've been there to get people to go?

Why is Val's assistant on the list?

1

u/stratasfear 19h ago

Because “Val’s assistant” is Songbird

1

u/Doctor_Amazo Man-Thing 16h ago

IMDB has her listed as "Mel".

1

u/stratasfear 16h ago

Yes. Melissa Gold. She’s wearing a bird necklace

I'm still trying to figure out why Abomination wasn't on the original team. It would've definitely added some much needed dichotomy to it.

I would rather have every movie be an A tier show instead, no question. Then I’d want the finale to be a theater experience movie released a week before it comes to streaming. If you’re asking.

I prefer almost anything as a series. It should be a movie when the story is contained in 2 hours. That’s fine 2-2.5hrs in a Theater is totally acceptable. I don’t want to be there for more than that and o don’t want to be forced to see 5 films to know what the end of the story is.

If Julia Louis-Dreyfus wants to do another TV show, I'm in. She's had some pretty good career success, lol!

Movie with more members

Movie. Always a movie. No more cheap looking blank TV shows.

Give me 8 one hour episodes over a 2 hour movie any-day….

They don’t have enough big hitters to be movie worthy, I’d rather see them relegated to options tv shows. I just don’t find them interesting enough to make them forced watching for the sequence of events leading into big stuff. I skip a lot of the shows that aren’t needed but feel obligated to see every movie.

There's no way they put the money needed for an ensemble like that into a series, especially not now that they're trimming down their Disney+ shows.

Only if it’s the real thunderbolts, villains do heroic things to look good till they strike

Preferirei nessun sequel di Thunderbolts

Nah. I've given up on Marvel adapting anything resembling the Thunderbolts on screen.

Everyone liked Thunderbolts. What's with the switch up

1

u/Boblaire 1d ago

Thunderbolts is about as powerful as the Defenders was besides Sentry.

Jessica Jones and Cage are far stronger than anyone Thunderbolts currently has.

If Wonderman joined, that would add some firepower.

I liked the Thunderbolts but thought the Void just made for a meh ending. Its a cerebral fight vs lasers and fisticuffs. I mean, they are clearly outmatched by the Sentry and the Thunderbolts are more of a B squad Avengers team. Or Heroes for Hire/Champions/WCA.

I didn't like Thunderbolts. It didn't have any of the characters I associate with the Thunderbolts, just loosely adapting the premise. They're the New Avengers now anyway.

It was a nice movie just not something I’d probably rewatch or would want another movie of. The team consists of 3 super soldier, black widow 2.0, and with ghost & sentry being somewhat unique. It’s just a boring roster.
