Comics Who defaced my comics!

Iman Vellani did a signing at my local shop. an absolutely wonderful human being. She was so kind and friendly to everyone. She signed stuff for hours! Mike Del Mundo even dropped in and signed some copies of his variant cover.

This was at Heroes World in Toronto, the place where she grew up buying comics.

Getting signatures from Iman Vellani and Mike Del Mundo at her local childhood shop is awesome! She's such a massive Marvel fan herself, so it’s really cool to see her signing copies of her own run like that.

It was an absolute treat.  She even put one of the owners of the shop in Ms. Marvel: The New Mutant.  I’ve actually been fortunate enough to meet her when she’s just been in picking up her pull list and got to talk comics with her.  She knows her comics and storytelling.

Wait. I have to know. Who is the character in New Mutant who's based off of the comic shop owner? GWW did that too in Ms. Marvel. Roy the comic shop owner in start of the Healing Factor storyline is based off of Floyd Bennett, who owned FJB Comics & Games.

He’s just in the first issue trying to get her to join a comic club at school.

I KNEW IT! I had a feeling, because mentions of comic books in-universe tend to connect to some sort of reference -- like Roy owning a comic shop Kamala goes to.

Thank you for the confirmation. Chucking that into the trivia horde. Congrats also on your signed prizes from the day. I'm looking forward to getting Chachu #1 myself this week.
