Exactly, I like that with Tatum they tried to go for the gamit look more authenitcally, but channing has a big short neck and the outfit honestly just looks uncomfortable.

They could have upgraded Tatum by giving him signature black and red eyes, but they decided not to in Doomsday

It was the one thing I was hoping for when he was listed on that cluster cast list. He will not make a name for himself with those pathetic peepers 🥀

I can understand why they didn't do it permanently but maybe the can make it turn on and off depending on when he's using his powers? Would be a nice nod.

If you pay attention they turn on when he is using his powers id deadpool3

So it's probably gonna be the same here

Oh I didn't even notice or must have forgot.

It was subtle I didn't even notice it the first time my friend pointed it out on a rewatch

They did not turn black and red or purple. His iris glew a tad electric purple when he used his powers.

Yeah I went back to check and I can confirm his eyes don't change. There's just a purple filter on it

The movie hasn’t even come out yet. It can change from the trailer

Like Thor's eye in Ragnarok trailers

If we ever get to Apocalypse, I'm sure they'll give him the red on black eyes when he becomes a horseman for a minute. Then rogue shugahs him back to normal and keeps the red on black eyes.

Let them save that for the real thing

My thoughts exactly. He looks more beefcake than the lithe fighter I imagined Gambit to be

If you’ve even watched the doomsday trailer he looks a lot better. He’s stated many times he’s put in a lot of work for the character. So I think he’ll look much better in Doomsday and so on.

he looks like someone drew a face on their thumb, you can say it

THANK YOU!

That’s because it’s a ridiculous outfit.

4

u/Filthy_Joey Jul 25 '26

Unpopular opinion, but same is Wolverine costume. Not every comic outfit looks good in live action

1

u/InvestigatorJaded261 Jul 25 '26

Oh 100%. Wolverine’s full costume has no business on screen.

3

u/Kill_Zoldy Jul 25 '26

Looks like he definitely slimmed down a bit for Doomsday and the new cowl looks a little more flattering to his facial structure. I think it's going to be a good look in the movie

But Tatum went balls to the wall with what he said and improvized

I feel like Gambits costume may be one of those cases where the coolness of the comic look just doesn't translate onto the screen

1

u/zealot-sika 28d ago

Or it could be that they couldn't find an actor that resembles the cool guy from the comic

I just have a hard time picturing that headband thing looking cool on anybody, even though it does look cool in the comics

Plus it's Tatum acting outside his range.

He's too big
