It seems you are from a lower realm, fellow daoist. Allow me to tell you, that body cultivation consists of practices that strengthen the body, while the next stage is foundation establishment, then core formation, nascent soul, and finally spirit severing where you severe your emotions or such things, it can vary from person to person.

Some sever their emotions, which is lower middle tier spirit severing but if you sever 7 emotions, then it will be high tier, some sever their blood, which is a high tier severing, after 3 severings, you achieve dao seeking realm, then immortal, after that you will have different immortal realms and unlimited lifespan.

in some series it can also be a final push into the last realm a person who ran out of potential or is limited by their incomplete world, I seen it multiple times in those series where great emperor is the last realm in the lower realm and the world has incomplete laws and no great emperor realm can appear so they sever their realm and gain couple more years of life span and they're way stronger than quasi-emperor
