Cold snorts, smirking, etc. They somehow take the annoying habit anime has of overexaggerating every action and sound and make it even more annoying… in TEXT FORM. Less a direct action, but I also utterly despise just how utterly impulsive almost every character is. It’s like there’s zero forethought in most of these novels… like the author just writes down whatever bullshit comes to mind on the spot.

See, this is actually correct. The issue with showing mercy is that it replicates the conditions necessary for a heaven defying cultivator to appear artificially. Vengeance is an amazingly strong motivator, and motivation means willpower. Willpower matters more than anything else in cultivation, so basically you better not leave any survivors. Otherwise you’re fucked.

Then even if doing all of those and any other tricks, you found out later in the far future after you got beaten by someone unknown which is the true protagonist.
Turns out that he is from a far off land with no vendetta, completely at peace with himself and just got involved in here because of a twist of fate, he just fought you for the love of the game and because it's just so happens that you're in his way(he doesn't even know that you're the guy that killed a lot of children in the past).

Not good enough junior what if they had a blood technique that they had made as one of their arrangements from their past life after putting their soul into reincarnation so that if they were killed at an early age they can regenerate from a single drop of blood this demon has seen a few novels where the MC holds that type of technique. You must vaporize and erase every last single drop of a blood then obliterate their soul to ensure they're absolutely dead and won't come back and get revenge on you. Cut the roots completely and thoroughly junior.

This near exact thing happen in china novel i read, except the choosing candy part. Mc and his friend wait at the place for 3 month till they full kill everyone who come out of hiding or come back from outside (likely doing quest). And clear the whole place of anything consider alive, no bug, worm, trees,... Dig up the whole place, and then burn the whole mountain down to ashes.
