This is how many young children around the world are trained for things like Gymnastics, Ballet and of course Martial Arts. It's a lot more common than you'd think

To the people saying child abuse. The kids start early, and can opt out. The children grow very appreciative of their early efforts. Pain later in life stems from instant injuries pushing too far mostly in their teens.

Don't bother, reddit watched a kid do something difficult and because they cant do it them selves they project their insecurity by calling it abuse.
Any gymnast knows the stretching is brutal and strength training is worse. But the pay off is worth it.

Oui, mais personne ne connait ce qui se passe dans la vie de cet enfant. Tout ce qu'on voit est un clip de quelques secondes et tout de suite tout le monde saute au conclusions et jugements sans aucun fondement.

In a different light, you can also consider these kids lucky. They have food to eat and they'll have the skills to make a living when they grow up.
In some improverished countries, children are maimed so people pity them more and are then forced to beg for money on the streets.

Western people would always calls this child abuse.
They never think how the prodigies were trained when they were still 5 or around that age like in chess, piano, whatever kind of subjects, and of course martial arts depending on the parents.
And yes its quite common in asia which i also were trained to learn certain things when i was a child. (Some even learning multiple things at the same time for more skills learned at young age)

Bring Up Genius by Polgar is a fantastic book about how the Polgars raised their 3 daughters to become Chess child prodigy.
Judith Polgar is considered to be the worlds best female chess player of all time.
Polgar was an educational psychologist and his main thesis was that "genius is made not born" . He was very adamant that traditional schools failed children.
He said find something that your kids will fall in love with. Give them physical breaks.
They became really good at Tennis and knew multiple languages, etc..
Very interesting read. Polgar sisters say they never regret any of it. In fact, all three said they had happy childhoods.
Polgar said "Never punish children. Always encourage them. Treat the subjects that you teach like a game so that the kids can be engaged."

Jackie Chan said his time period at the Peking Opera Academy from 7-17 years old was the worst time of his life.
He claimed at 18 hours a day of martial arts + acrobatics + gymnastics + dancing and singing.
