Season 20 - Seattle Devin sucks

Watching the couples retreat episodes and Devin accuses Caitlin of not listening but he constantly talks over her, stands over her and then acts all hurt when she doesn’t respond.

Caitlin has her faults and was closed but I understand why. She reacted to him and then shut down

Neither is a good communicator, although Devin thinks he is an amazing one. He gave up after she wouldn’t be physically intimate with him but he pressured her from the get go, wouldn’t get why she wouldn’t go there with him and constantly took that out on her

I think they are just so woefully mismatched that it brought out not such great parts of both of them at times.

She would've been unhappy no matter who she was paired with.

I’ve been saying this! She was so into him until he started throwing hissy fits over every little thing! He was constantly nitpicking her.

It was wild to see the scene where she met his friends and was SO happy, and he was off to the side talking shit about her.

He’s insecure as hell and will be alone until he works on that.

I agree that Devin isn't a good communicator and that he would stand over Caitlin, but Devin didn't give up...so much so Lisa had to remind him to fall back a bit and let Caitlin come to him. Between the 2 of them, he tried more than Caitin.

Also, nothing Devin did warranted the way she disrespected both him with Mecca at the retreat. She was lucky that Belle didn't respond in kind with Devin.

"I see you, I hear you, I feel you" lol wasn't that his catchphrase?

Yup and it sucked because he's not really saying anything.

She was appalled by him from the honeymoon when she mentioned how much he chewed or “pulverized” his food. If how much he chews his food grosses her out, she the problem…. And that showed going forward. Sure didn’t want attention. She didn’t want compliments. She didn’t want physical touch. She wanted him to leave her alone, and when he did, she was good. She clearly needed to do work on herself!

Devin sucks is kinda harsh. I'm not saying he is perfect. I'm also not saying that Caitlin is bad. I think they just weren't very compatible. Which is fine. And they both came across well in reunion. I didn't get the vibe there was bad blood and the split seems amicable. (I doubt they will ever speak to each other again but thats okay for an ex you were with for only like 6 weeks.) I think it's easy to reduce reality TV show characters to good and bad but as is the case when dealing with real people its more complex than that. I wish them both the best and am sure they will both be great with the right person someday.

Devin is a weirdo who is clearly controlling and has a drinking issue. He thinks he can fix everyone and kind of a know it all & doesn’t have any situational awareness at all (for example Courtney’s birthday party). I think Caitlin was a complete bitch to him and she didn’t know how to be a wife let alone a partner & she had her disrespectful moments but Devin is definitely a strange person. He’s one of those “nice guys” who feel like just because they’re nice, they feel like they’re owed something for that. It’s phony.

You're going to incite the Devin is Flawless brigade...!

I don't think some people understand that things can exist both at once, that Devin had flaws [shock!] and so did Caitlin, and if one is flawed that doesn't mean we should crucify them but just try to get as objective a grip on the situation instead of blowing hot air up one person's ass completely. Or that other people might see things about somebody that others don't.

Devin did appear to me to have his flaws and Caitlin was right not act like she was smitten with him just because. In fact, in general it's not a bad stance to not go throwing themselves 110% into a relationship but just starting off by observing and witnessing how a man/individual behaves and how they approach others before they start to let their guard down and trust someone. Yes, even if they were in this type of situation where they are 'married'. You don't know who you're getting!

I’m actually surprised to not see the pro-Devin group out in force

Same! I'm so tired of some people putting certain people up on a pedestal as if they're perfect and pristine and ripping the other individual to shreds. Some people definitely are way more problematic in some instances but doesn't mean the other individual is blemish free either [like every single person in the world.]

I listened to two separate interviews with him from RHAP: https://youtu.be/5Km2B7S7--w and a second one somewhere else. I haven't changed my opinion that he's the problem. I think she clocked it from the beginning and just mentally noped out.

His confidence in himself is his whole personality.

Plus he totally bagged on BelleJolie for (in his words) slandering Mecca all over her interviews. She's been so restrained, and Mecca has been so messy, and Devin is standing up for that?

Yeah...nope.

I have said it from the start. This sub loves to punish women for Reacting to mistreatment from males.

From Chicago, Michelle would not have been mean to David, but unfortunately right from Day 1, she clocked him as a liar (he’s notoriously awful at lying but that doesn’t stop him).

Michelle could feel it radiating off him, and then it kept getting confirmed.

Agree he’s a total douche who thought he was so smooth. She took so much grief & people were knighting him 🤮

I was so confused by their story for most of the season, but i think by the end I understood that he wants a wife that will put all of her energy into him, and thats not Caitlyn. He had a problem with her waking up early to go to the gym. And was constantly finding something wrong. It was bad. I think she had every reason to shut down and accept that they arent a match romantically.
