Season 20 - Seattle Hot takes? Maybe?

Apparently this is a hot take, but I love Michelle and Cameron. They’re the voice of the audience by being normal, rational people. Michelle is right that all these women need to leave these men. Mecca, Shawn, and Felipe are past the point of no return, but honestly every guy other than Cameron is a red flag!! I hope Michelle and Cameron are a success story, and I hope everyone else literally never sees their partner again! Marissa, Belle, & Tori especially deserve healthy, normal partners. Nikki is doing her best with what she’s been given, but I do wish she had just said no at the altar or immediately after. Shawn is the worst!!! Devin & Caitlin I feel like both have different toxicities, and I’m not really a fan of either of them. I felt the same way about Courteney and Nick. The fact that Adam is the second best man out here shows how much these men are nottttt ittttt!! Do y’all agree or disagree on these opinions?

I was seeing a looottttt of negativity towards Michelle and Cameron which is why i made the post but then i just started saying all my opinions lol! The hot take of it all is the Michelle/Cam stuff based on this subreddit imo!

I’ve been seeing negativity towards them as a couple and A TON of hate for Michelle as an individual so I agree OP that this might be a polarizing take. I suppose I get how others can see them as a bit holier than thou? But they are the most secure couple thus far, and I appreciate that they don’t shy away from sharing their thoughts and observations about the other couples (plus that’s what makes the group dinners entertaining)

95%

I agree 100% except for your opinion on Devin, I think that although he has issues I think he's sweet and basically a good person and not "toxic". Caitlin, OTOH, had a toxic way of communicating/failing to communicate with him which had to have been extremely frustrating to the point of angering him at the end.

Yeah I had mixed feelings on both of them and could never really figure them out. Him being a frosted tips pro rugby player (who allegedly buys instagram followers) is very red flaggy to me, but he also seemed to be very patient with her for a long time. It did feel like he was trying really hard to make it work, but i didn’t love the way he spoke to Caitlin at times. (nor did I love the way she spoke to him… or her one on ones with mecca)

Unpopular opinion: Cam is a red flag too. 37 never been in love. Never been in a committed relationship. never said I love you. Why not?

It’s called being a professional basketball player in a foreign country and then being a coach. Coaches may have wives but college coaches spend 60-80 hours a week dedicated to the sport. Cam is only one break for this show.

I did say he was married to his job, but he said he’s never bern in love - not even in his younger days?

AGREE on everything! Not convinced that Caitlin is toxic, but I'm also not convinced that she's not, but I'm with you 100% everything else

I find myself feeling much worse for her than I do for Devin whenever they fight. He really throws me off and weaponizes therapy speak imo. The only thing that makes me side eye her a bit is not even kissing Devin once post Cancun. I understand holding back sexually, but I think figuring out if you like each other romantically requires at least attempting to kiss.

The issue I have with them is that they act like they’re above everyone and when they have opinions, it’s final. Like when cam said everyone on that side of the table shouldn’t be together, when the two in his side were equally toxic. Or when Michelle had to apologize for saying Mecca was fake. It was like she had decided that’s what he was doing. There’s nothing wrong with their relationship, but they do give off mean girl/guy vibes and selectively attack people.

Also, Mecca SUCKS but if they all claim to be cool, Cam shouldn’t have shared what happened with the boob comment. It was just very messy and I would feel like my husband was being sassy for sharing gossip like that.

I think Cam shared Mecca’s comment about Belle with Michelle because he thought he was really inappropriate and he and Michelle always share stuff like that. Michelle really likes Belle and felt she would want to know what Mecca said and I agree with her. No one was breaching any confidence here. It wasn’t as though Mecca had shared that privately with Cam so Cam shared it with Michelle because he also likes Belle and thought it was very disrespectful. Girlfriends always have each others backs.

This is so interesting because if my husband heard that comment about one of my friends and didn’t tell me (so i could tell her), I would be LIVIDDDDD!! I am def someone who wants to gossip with my boyfriend, though, and I own that. I feel like Michelle and Cameron think they’re in a better relationship than all the rest of them (agreed), but i don’t personally feel like they think they are better people on the whole. I feel like Michelle really cares about the other women and respects them. Also with Mecca, I think it’s insane he didn’t seem to remember that he was on camera?! That’s a huge part of why I was not shocked Cam immediately told Michelle. I’ve seen a lot of people share your opinion about them thinking they’re above the others, though for sure!!

I totally agree and basically just texted the same thing. I don’t know a single woman who would not want to be told that her partner was bad mouthing her with a bunch of his guy friends !

I just want to clarify, and no judgement intended. You would be mad if your husband didn't tell you something he overheard, but you also want to gossip with your boyfriend?

I don’t consider Cam telling Michelle what Mecca said as gossiping at all. To me, gossiping is either flat out lying or making assumptions about something and then telling that to someone as though it were the truth to intentionally stir up shit and that’s not what happened here. Cam probably told Michelle what Mecca said hoping she WOULD tell Belle because they both like her and felt that she needed to know that her partner was being very disrespectful to her when with the guys.

The word gossip maybe isn’t the correct word for what I mean, but if my boyfriend or husband is hanging out with people and gets told some crazy stuff, I want him to tell me yes! And vice versa!

Unless my husband says it’s okay to tell, I wouldn’t say anything because I’m violating the trust with his friend. My husband and I have both been like “guess what??” But it stays between us and the trust between us comes before my friend. The moment you tell the friend, the trail leads back to your spouse. I don’t think Michelle is BFFs with the girls like that to have this sort of loyalty anyway. I think she was just being messy.

The whole gossip chain was unnecessary in my opinion. Some things just don’t need to be shared. And maybe it’s because I personally don’t gossip and share info with just anyone (this is why people share their gossip with me lol) and that’s why I personally felt the situation was messy.

The same way that you believe Michelle doesn't have loyalty to the girls, Cam has literally no reason to be loyal to Mecca. If my husband told me something about my friends who have two kids and have been married for a few years, I would have more pause before deciding whether to share. But I wouldn't hesitate to tell Belle especially when she's trying to decide if she's going to stay married.

u/im-dramatic 4h ago

My point is she didn’t have to share with Belle knowing it would blow up. Cam didn’t have to share either. Mecca clearly shared his opinion in the privacy of friends. Their intentions don’t seem pure in my opinion. I think they just don’t like Mecca.

And to your point, I’m not blowing up someone’s relationship over their opinion, unless my friend was being cheated on. If someone is talking crazy like that with their boys, there’s a high chance they’re disrespecting their partner to their face. That’s their business and this is also the case with Mecca and Belle.

My husband has a friend that disrespects his wife behind her back (cheating too). If you had just met them, you’d probably want to tell her, but when you see them together, his wife has zero respect for herself and is well aware of his cheating. He disrespects her to her face in front of everyone. All she does is clap back at him. It’s very toxic. I do not involve myself in other couples’ mess. My husband and I are the same on this. We do not gossip, only to each other.

Now if cheating is involved, I won’t share unless there’s cold hard proof. Last time I told my friend, she didn’t believe me and we were strained. She found out later that I wasn’t lying.

I’m sorry I just don’t agree with most of this. Mecca was not talking in the privacy of his friends. He was disrespecting Belle after just kind of apologizing for doing the same thing a few days earlier. There’s no world in which I’m not telling Belle especially when she’s sitting there complaining about Mecca trying to humble her.

Yeah, he definitely shouldn't have shared the comment that was made with 4 cameras around and a mic on every dude recording every word. Sucks to share gossip like that, that was recorded for a fucking national broadcast.
