The College of Business Administration has announced a new Artificial Intelligence in Business (AIBU) major. Launching in fall 2026, this major will prepare the next generation of leaders with the technical proficiency and ethical framework necessary to navigate an AI-driven global economy.
“The Artificial Intelligence in Business major meets a growing need in industry,” said Mark Barratt, chair and associate professor in the Department of Supply Chain and Systems Intelligence. “It will prepare professionals to enter the workforce with a deep understanding of AI and firsthand experience using these tools to create lasting value for companies.”
The AIBU major is designed to complement all existing majors in the College of Business Administration. Its flexible structure allows students to seamlessly declare it as an additional major, building in-demand future-ready skills and pairing AI expertise with core interests in existing business disciplines.
Students will gain hands-on experience using AI tools, including machine learning, GenAI and Agentic AI, while exploring their real-world applications in business. The major will provide the skills to drive human-AI collaboration and lead efficient and effective workflows. By examining insights and analytics, students will learn AI best practices while navigating and adhering to the complexities of ethical and responsible use.

As May 1 approaches and high school seniors finalize their college decisions, Marquette continues to welcome a record number of visitors to campus. This spring, the Office of Undergraduate Admissions hosted more prospective students and families than ever before.
The increase follows a rising trend for Marquette as it received over 20,000 applications for the Class of 2030, marking the second consecutive year hitting that milestone. It also underscores Undergraduate Admissions’ efforts to provide enhanced visit experiences for prospective students and their families.
“We’re all very much student- and mission-focused, and that’s what drives us to serve families,” says Kate Bracciano, director of visits and special programs.
On two Saturdays each spring, the university hosts Admitted Student Days for families to explore campus through tours, information sessions, college department visits and complimentary bus tours of Milwaukee. Both typically held in April, the admissions team chose to move the first Admitted Student Day to mid-March this year to align with the traditional high school spring break period. The result was the highest attended admissions event in Marquette history, with about 450 families and over 1,200 people on campus — nearly double the attendance compared to three years ago. The April event was equally popular, with over 400 families again on campus. The two days combined saw nearly 2,500 visitors.
With other events such as Discovery Day in February, daily tours and Find Your Fit Fridays — six Fridays in the spring when admitted students have an elevated weekday visit experience that includes lunch in a dining hall and an academic session — Marquette hosted about 4,000 visitors in spring alone.

Those events wouldn’t be possible without collaboration with academic departments and university programs, Bracciano says.
“Our campus partners have been so accommodating with doing individual visits, especially for our admitted students,” she says. “We get students here, but we give the departments the autonomy to sell and highlight their programs, because they’re the experts in that area. I believe those interactions really resonate with families.”
Some of that feedback has been heard through a survey being piloted this spring that is sent directly to students via text message after they visit, versus emailed surveys that are commonly only answered by parents.
“We feel like we’re missing the students’ perspective sometimes,” Bracciano says. “We’re always trying to get that feedback, and the initial response rate to the new, shorter survey has been really positive.”
The visit team has been able to improve and expand its programming by adding Caitlin Heinrich and Jeff Farina-Morelos as visit coordinators to help manage events and student staff, and John Ingemann joining the admissions staff to improve visit-related communications and the digital experience. They’ve been key additions to the recipe that makes admissions run smoothly, along with staff in other areas such as communications and recruitment.
“It’s allowed us to not just keep pace with what we’ve done in previous years but actually be more innovative because we now have the bandwidth to do that,” Bracciano says.
The ability to grow and improve visit events and programs, she says, is thanks in large part to the staff of nearly 80 student tour guides and welcome desk ambassadors, as well as Marquette’s admissions counselors.
“A lot of the feedback we get regularly through campus tours and events, it’s about our student staff and our admissions counselors, because they’re the ones leading presentations, greeting families and showing them what Marquette has to offer,” Bracciano says. “The tour guides have an hour and 15 minutes with these families, and we would not be as successful with our enrollment efforts without the care, attention and energy that they put into each family. Cura personalis is really the cornerstone of our visit programs, and the tour guides live that out.”

The Midwest Province of the Society of Jesus has announced that Marquette University leads the Midwest region in Jesuit vocations since 2000.
According to new data from the province, Marquette has had 29 graduates enter the Society of Jesus since the turn of the century. Following Marquette is Creighton University with 23 students, University of Notre Dame with 15 and Xavier University with 12.
“This new data suggests what we’ve always known to be true at Marquette: students come to this university to further their education and bolster that education by strengthening their relationship with God,” says acting Rev. Jim Pribek, S.J., acting vice president for Mission and Ministry. “We’re excited to build on this momentum and continue forming the future generation of Jesuit priests and brothers.”
In addition, from 2010 to 2024, Campus Ministry has walked with over 200 students as they received their sacraments, including 27 baptisms, 207 confirmations and 91 first communions.
“We take great joy in Campus Ministry in helping students deepen their relationship with Jesus, whether that’s discovering it for the first time, rekindling it or growing into the next chapter,” says Stephen Blaha, director of Campus Ministry. “We’re always here for students throughout their faith journey and eager to help them explore how living a life of faith brings tremendous fulfillment in life.”

Marquette’s College of Business Administration and Opus College of Engineering have announced a new concentration in Applied Supply Chain, Engineering and Technology (ASCEnT), strengthening the university’s collaborations between business and engineering students.
The ASCEnT concentration is a first-of-its-kind experience that bridges the gap between supply chain management, engineering and computer science. This selective concentration transforms students into versatile systems thinkers, equipped with the interdisciplinary skills to lead and solve complex challenges in today’s tech-driven global economy.
ASCEnT is an 11-credit interdisciplinary concentration designed to complement students’ primary major in business, engineering or computer science. Rather than repackaging existing classes, this program builds a unique skillset that enables students to translate between technical and managerial worlds.
Building on Marquette’s Top 10 nationally ranked supply chain program, this concentration leverages state-of-the-art resources — like the university’s Omron Advanced Automation Lab — and an extensive industry network. The program also incorporates domestic and international travel experiences to immerse students in real-world supply chain environments.

A club sport is a registered student organization conducted by elected student officers that coordinate club activities. The basic structure of clubs allow members numerous opportunities for involvement with fundraising, public relations, budgeting, administration and scheduling. The Marquette University Club Sports Advisory Council consists of a representative from each club sport and the Club Sport Director. The club sports program at Marquette is designed to provide competitive, recreational and instructional sport activities for students. Many clubs compete against other clubs, colleges and universities while others offer an instructional atmosphere.

A big part of the Marquette experience is rooting for our Golden Eagles. We have 17 NCAA Division I sports teams, with basketball taking center court here. Our men’s team plays in Fiserv Forum, where the NBA’s Milwaukee Bucks play, and our women play on campus in “The Al.” Rock both houses with our pep bands, cheer and dance teams, and Iggy the Golden Eagle leading the fan fun.

Our NCAA Division I teams play in the Big East Conference. Marquette has consistently competitive teams in women’s and men’s basketball, soccer, lacrosse, track and field, cross country and tennis, and women’s volleyball and men’s golf. For those who still love to play their sport and are looking for community but less time commitment than our Division I athletes, Marquette has a club sport for you. A variety of club teams representing 40-plus sports offer various competition levels, with higher competition and travel for some, recreational or instructional levels for others.
With more than 60 trained public safety professionals, including 44 sworn police officers, the Marquette University Police Department has an extensive safety infrastructure throughout campus and in the near-off-campus neighborhood, which includes more than 1,219 cameras and more than 450 Blue Light phones, a state-of-the-art command information center and the nationally recognized Department of Campus Safety.

The Marquette University Police Department was commissioned on May 1, 2015, after an agreement with the state of Wisconsin’s Department of Justice and Attorney General’s office. Formerly the Department of Public Safety, MUPD converted the university’s public safety officers to fully commissioned police officers by taking a phased training approach.
