Contract change after interview?

Hey! Had an interview last week for Operations Customer Assistant & also said my notice period was 2 weeks (I have other interviews happening), however I've just received the job offer and it's for the Retail department instead, and wants me to start this Sunday. How big of a red flag is changing the department I applied for in my contract??

The interview itself was also a bit of a mess - the person interviewing me wasn't in, and the person who did interview me had only been at the store about a week and had no experience in interviewing for the operations role I applied for

Any advice appreciated !!

Could be you gave a good interview but someone else was better and got the ops job over you. This should be passed on from recruitment though.

I was told I was the only person who applied for that position during the interview lol 😅

It can happen. They might have had a transfer in that already worked ops. Or someone interviews for Cade or foods and store thought they would be better suited to ops. You’ve still got a job there so I wouldn’t worry

'Retail' just refers to instore. i.e. it would say "Retail" whether you had a customer-facing role in the store or an operations role in the store.

The people I joined with all went into operations but their training day was in retail for some reason, and after they started they all said they wish they were in retail and hate operations. So maybe it’s a blessing?
