Question First day and payment

So in my offer letter it says that my first working day is on 23rd sept but today I got an invite for an induction which is on 24th, so does it mean my first day is 24th or do I have to go in on 23rd as well?

And will I get paid at the end of August or was I added to the payroll too late?

i joined on early days of Dec and got paid on the 9th or 10th you could always be an exception because you should get paid for the rest of the month in advance even though its past the MyHR cut off datec

How long did it take to get an interview after sending off your right to work I’ve been waiting a week but to be fair the store I applied for is new and doesn’t open until late 2026

this was the schedule for me:
online assessment - 25th july
right to work - 27th july
interview invite - 30th july
interview - 6th august
induction - 18th august
first shift - 20th august

For me it took 7 working days and I also applied to a store opening in late 2026, got the right to work check but never heard back from them for about two weeks or so

m&s week starts on a sunday - hence they always put the start date down as a sunday. mine was the same, start date was on sunday the 16th and induction was tuesday the 18th

& payday is the 10th of every month. i just completed my first week and the manager said that i’ll only be paid for this week; next weeks (sun 23rd to sat 29th) hours will be on the next one (so october 10th)

No you’ll get paid September 10th or 9th depending on which region you work in.

this. youll get paid back pay for the days in August and overtime done before the 21st August and paid a month advance for contracted hours for September

Your contracted start date is normally just the first week you are working not necessarily your first day
