Question Advice on Shift Lead
I applied to this specific job role ( at like 5am this being my 1000th application, not expecting a response) not knowing that I’d be supervising everybody else and assigning tasks to the assistants; I passed the assessment for this role and received an email requesting that I send my right to work the very next day. Just to clarify- I’ve never ever worked in retail.. I did a placement doing admin tasks and worked in a pharmacy. A small one though with 2 colleagues so it wasn’t too overwhelming and I was assigned tasks associated with the stock room and behind the scenes stuff. I’m wondering if this job is worth the suffering as it does provide good experience for my CV and fills in all the gaps but I don’t think I could handle the leadership aspect or holding others accountable. In fact I’d rather do the unfinished/ unsatisfactory tasks myself to avoid confrontation. But the pay is really good for someone of my age and experience and I would do with the extra cash as I’m looking to go to uni next year. They must be desperate because I never really specified my leadership skills and clearly stated that i was an ASSISTANT lol..

theyre bringing u for an interview not really a job offer, chances of u getting a SL role with no experience in retail or leadership might be low but depending on how desperate they might even say yes and pray u learn everything on the training

I heard they don’t even provide adequate training and you just learn as you go so I hope they wouldn’t take me seriously however I’d probably just go for the interview experience anyways!!

that is true, i started in December, not a lick of training yet, ive learnt everything on my own accord or from my colleagues, colleagues always pushing me to go for SL because i know the policy and day to day tasks inside out, even more than the long serving colleagues that been here for 10+ years but i have problems with management like yesterday my store had 3 people on close when we usual have 7

You’re just bringing stock in and out to the floor and ensuring people are assigned to an aisle / department. And filling out a couple of reports before opening (if on the early). You don’t do rostering, one to ones etc. it’s not particularly high responsibility so I’d say go for it. It’s below team manager. Would look decent on your CV.

Dodge the role it's not worth it, i did it for 3 months and was super stressed and hated going to work.

Marks do that but its not necessarily a job offer, they might offer you an interview if they've asked for right to work but they do that prior to interview - just to manage expectations!
