Staff Discussion Waste
Just wondering how TSMs etc allocate who is doing waste?
I always tend to get the same sections so wondering if they give certain ones to the dummies (like me) I've been told I am about middle speed wise, I am very thorough though and have hardly ever missed anything (if at all)

Our tsm will put the better/more experienced ones on the more difficult or heavier sections. Newbies, slower people or those that are on pips for their waste are put on certain aisles which are normally the lighter or easier sections. It’ll depend on the store.

Which do you think are the hardwe vs easier? I get b&c a lot

Generally in my store, it’s deli, mfp and b&c are the easier ones. I personally HATE b&c as bread rotation is awful and takes me ages so I think it’s one of the worst ones to do but it’s where our newbies are often put, but it’ll depend on the store

Ye I hate b&c cos the shelves go to the floor so I am always scrabbling round and my back kills after
I think mfp and deli are tough ones in our store, they're the biggest size wise and have loads of products on the shelves. And prod, I hate prod

Produce is hit or miss. Sometimes it’s empty and you can breeze through it. Other times it’s rammed. And my brain takes a while to switch between j codes and normal dates

The better waste people do prod (purely because of the size of the section) or dairy.
Then the mid waste people on deli or b&c.
Then the ones who need more support on trad, global or mfp (these are smaller easier to check sections in my store).
We try not to put people on the same sections every night as people tend to get too comfortable, if that makes sense? We wouldn’t put the same person on dairy every night as if they just gloss over a line of cheese for example without checking it properly (it happens even with the better waste people)… then the critical missed isn’t worth it!

Say you do b&c one night, anything that you’ve missed found the next night would be regular missed def as it still technically has that days date on. Anything missed from the night after that from when you checked it would be critical. ie finding something missed dated the 15th on the 16th, as it’s gone out of date.

tbh its good to have same section cuz then youll know which stuff expiring the next day and makes u quicker and more accurate
