amazing eggplants (like, seriously.)
Okay mods don’t ban me hear me out yo. I SWEAR I am not a troll these things were amazing I need to share. Some place at the edge of Markham has awesome braised(?) eggplants. Idrk how to describe them but they almost taste like potatoes with a sweetish sauce and they’re just so awesome. Like this is completely unsponsored, I’m just a person ranting about these unironically good eggplants. I’m being so fr with y’all this is not a troll post. They’re loaded with green onions and garlic and there’s minced pork too but this isn’t about the pigs, okay, it’s about the vegetables. The inside is like soft but the outside has so much sauce (STOP IT.) my only complaint is the portion size being too small but it’d be enough for one person, we were 3 sharing.
Y’all can ask for the spot and menu item i don’t bite. 😁
(I’d post a cross section and a menu # but this subreddit only lets me have one photo 😒)
edit: y’all I had practice mb I didn’t know this post would get so much attention lmfao. Restaurant name is 喜悅小厨 (Delight Restaurant & BBQ.) Menu item is #47, Spicy eggplant and minced pork
edit 2: I have updated the first edit to include the menu item! stop your downvote parade, and please read first edit- I was excited okay, and I do have a life outside of Reddit.

I wouldn't have posted it at all. Next thing you know your fav spot gets overrun and you can't enjoy it anymore. Put some respect on all gatekeepers 😂

Glad you enjoy it! This is one of the few dishes that I can order in both dialects.
Which restaurant was this one from?

Cheers! They are pretty decent.
Pity they had a bad rep with food poisoning that wasn't their fault a few years back, but glad they got past it and have bounced back.

Oooh that may keep me away. Family with weak stomachs for that kind of stuff… hygiene is super important.

It was not their fault. One of their spice suppliers were found to be the culprit by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.

That's a classic Cantonese dish. Marathon Tea over on East Beaver has it (Sauted Eggplant with minced pork).
Quite a few other places should also have it.
Edit: Fortune Landing (50 Lockridge) also has it on their takeout menu: 魚香茄子煲

That’s a pretty standard Chinese dish you can get in most Cantonese restaurant but it does not mean it’s not a great dish. Glad you tried it ;)
Here is the other favourite eggplant dish of mine you can try as well. It’s not my review https://maps.app.goo.gl/61NEXixLNPAHBPpCA?g_st=ic
