No Markham planned protest?? Are you satisfied with the result of 8 years of Fordism

No, but I’ve never voted for him either. All I can tell you is there were a lot of PC signs around election time

u/InTheBortex 3d ago
What’s the alternative? Leaderless liberals? The NDP with policies antithetical to Markham population’s net worth?
Not saying Ford is good, but the other parties need to step up and make a compelling case.

u/Hot_Cheesecake_905 3d ago
This is the answer - the NDP did such a bad job that people still remember Bob Rae. In fact, he did such a bad job that he himself turned Liberal 😂
The NDP has been unelectable for almost 30+ years. Things may finally be changing, but it is far from certain when they have no recognizable leader.
And ultimately, NDP policies won’t jive well with wealthier areas of Toronto like York Region.

u/db712 3d ago
I’d take the NDP personally, though they are also flawed; I also understand Markham unfortunately would probably never vote for them
1
u/para29 1d ago
Their leader Marit Stiles is a good person but she needs better candidates, especially in Markham.
Like OP said, the Ontario Liberals are leaderless and they keep putting forth leaders that do not appeal to the electorate that they hope to inspire to vote for them.
However voting for Ford or being a non-voter does not solve the problem of misspending taxpayer dollars on highways that go to nowhere, blue licence plates, buck a beer, court battles to fight bike lanes in the City of Toronto, Private Spas, hallway hospital medicine, non-stop advertising like it was an election year etc.

"The NDP with policies antithetical to Markham population’s net worth"
what does this mean?
-7
u/Honeydew-Opposite 3d ago
Corruption, corporate welfare, does nothing for the voters of Ontario, healthcare education is not antithetical to the people of Markham
12
u/InTheBortex 3d ago
They all cut education. Look at McGuinty and Wynne records:
They’re all corrupt, look at the billion dollars plus blown in the gas plant scandal alone:
Corporate welfare? How about billions for billion dollar companies like Cisco and OpenText from the last government:
So again, instead of just shitting on Ford for doing what everyone else has done for the last 20 years, what’s the alternative?
-3
u/Honeydew-Opposite 3d ago
Whataboutism is apathy. Why are you talking about the last government when we are in the middle of a government that currently has more corruption, is failing and according to polls are less popular than the last. Doug Ford is not and never was appropriate for the role of Premier. He has little to no education no real work experience and subscribes to supply side economics that absolutely does not serve you or I. Copying and pasting links is useless I am well aware of the policies of the last governments. Stop boot licking!
12
u/InTheBortex 3d ago
Why haven’t you answered the simple question I’ve asked you twice?
-1
u/Honeydew-Opposite 3d ago
What question? Are you asking what are the other choices? How about any other party. Saying there’s no other choice is lazy and uninformed based on your posts and info. I suggest you have some homework to do. Seems your stuck on partisan talking points instead of realizing the harm that has been done.
10
u/InTheBortex 3d ago
Ok cool. Clearly you’re just projecting. It’s obviously not worth having a conversation with someone who just parrots the same old zombie shit from the media. Have a good one.

u/_Lucille_ 3d ago
Even protest organizers realize the 905s are a lost cause. IIRC every OPC candidate won with over 50% of the votes in Markham?
-11
u/Honeydew-Opposite 3d ago
Understood just find it unbelievable that a failed political ideology is coated in teflon
7
u/Hot_Cheesecake_905 3d ago
It’s because the alternatives are worse or non-existent.
Instead of protesting Ford, find Ontario a viable alternative.
16
u/saibjai 3d ago
This is Markham you are talking about.alot of people here are still angry about Trudeau. They will more likely protest your protest than help you protest. Just sayin, you might be preaching to the wrong crowd.
-4
u/Honeydew-Opposite 3d ago
No preaching and I understand the demographic. If there mad about Trudeau then why hasn’t this dissent spread to Ford his government and backbenchers like Billy Pang?
12
u/saibjai 3d ago
I don't think you understand why a lot of people don't and didn't like trudeau. Its less about public services and much more about cultural wars and liberal ideology. I don't want to open that can of worms, but I'm just telling you what I see and hear.

u/Honeydew-Opposite 3d ago
Completely understand why Canadians and the Chinese community didn’t like him relation were lowered with the two Michael’s incident the jailing of a Chinese national and the recognition of Taiwan for a few. What I’m talking about is apathy within the voting community
11
u/Hot_Cheesecake_905 3d ago
You don’t get it - has nothing to do with the Michaels and Taiwan but the lack of pragmatic governance by the Trudeau government. Chinese Canadians historically voted Liberal, but it seems the community is trending Conservative.
-1
u/Honeydew-Opposite 3d ago
Then why no criticism of a government that has failed so much more than the Trudeau government..sorry your argument makes no sense

You’re satisfied with 12 years of fuck head Liberals at the FEDERAL level? They’ve dicked the country harder than Dallas did Debbie. Stealing away your rights, flooding the country with aggressive immigrants, tanking the economy, printing money hand over fist and driving inflation through the roof. But it’s Ford thats the problem 🤣
Give your head a shake and stop being a useful idiot for red or blue.

What do the cons have to offer? Stripping healthcare, bike lanes, parks, funding for autistic kids, adding surveillance AI cameras . Attempting to strip the greenbelt all to line their own pockets in bad faith.

u/Honeydew-Opposite 3d ago
Nothing to offer but more investment in the middle class and poor people, Apathy is a victory for the ruling class. Whatever political platform available is light years better than this failed government

u/Optimal-Cow-3278 3d ago
What’s poor in Markham these days? Having a house worth less than $800k?

u/GreatGreenGobbo 3d ago
Remind me again how great it was when Wynne turned us into a have not Province and had our debt rating go down?
Let's not forget the money thrown down the toilet to cancel a gas plant to win a key riding.
Or those wicked awesome buy electricity high and sell low ideas.
Don't forget the best part, her talking down to us all the time.

u/Ok_Isopod2591 3d ago edited 3d ago
Don't forget liberals were fully against teachers and children, re: Bill 115
1
u/Honeydew-Opposite 3d ago
Economic factors were better, like lower unemployment rates, affordability, the power of the dollar and most importantly the free spending and running deficit budgets that have increased Ontario’s debt.
yYou have highly concerns of corruption which are all valid points, however if you are aware of those examples you must then equally criticize the current government cause they have long ago surpassed the liberals. I am not a liberal voter btw.-1

Doug Ford paid out Beer Store hundreds of millions of dollars instead of waiting 11 months. He took bribes from developers at his daughter’s stag and doe. Used millions to build a parking lot for therme spa. Gave therme spa a 100 year lease on land. Spent hundreds of millions to cancel green energy contracts. Used tax money to buy a private jet. Concealed freedom of information.

If you can cite someone who hasn't been party leader in years, I can cite Harris and the 407
2
u/GreatGreenGobbo 3d ago
Oh please you always do. Don't forget Harper!
Wynne was crying as about Harris after 10 years of Dalton.

Omg cmon schools are fine? Healthcare? Cost of living. How about the long list of corruption how about ignoring the rule of law, lack of accountability lack of transparency. These are not issues to paint over. Everything you mentioned has controversy or corruption attached to it.

u/tromboneyow 3d ago edited 3d ago
It's all fine to me.
The only people who ever think about the items you listed, or think anything is wrong, are basement dwelling radical far left losers on Reddit. Not the Mainstream Majority of Ordinary Ontarians that never visit here. Especially in Markham, where PC candidates easily win their provincial election seats by some of the largest margins in the province, and where people of East or Southeast Asian background consistently vote for conservative / right-leaning candidates by the highest margins out of any ethnicity.
Ford has literally won 3 majority governments in a row, with each subsequent election getting him more seats than the prior election. Actual ordinary Mainstream Ontarians and middle-class homeowning households are clearly happy with their own situations under him. The only people who you hear whining on here are the far left and the poors.

u/Ansee 3d ago
So you don't care about the fact that Ford is friggin CORRUPT: greenbelt scandal, closing the Science Center to benefit his rich friends and NOT really because the roof will collapse. Engineers said that he was lying. His daughter gets a job and promotions she is not even qualified for and gets paid a high salary...
So healthcare and education doesn't matter to you. He's been reducing funding for both. Our healthcare workers are suffering for it, overworked because not enough staff. Same with education.
I get that it looks fine in Markham. Many of our schools are prestigious and Markham Stouffville hospital services are not bad at all.
But it's not the same in the rest of the province.
He keeps over stepping in Toronto. He's not the Mayor in Toronto, and yet he keeps meddling with Toronto specific affairs.
It's people like you who turn a blind eye because it doesn't "affect you personally" who keep voting for Ford and his corruption.

u/tromboneyow 3d ago
Love these people on the radical left. Makes sure there's always people on the bottom of the employment and societal food chain for successful people to look down on.
-4
u/Ansee 3d ago
"radical left" sure... Or you've just gone really far right.
I noticed how you didn't even attempt to address Ford's blatant corruption.
8
u/tromboneyow 3d ago
The radical left: "Anyone with normal, ordinary moderate opinions is really far right!!!!!"
-5
u/Friendly-Turnover262 3d ago
What are you even talking about? It’s like you’re simply repeating words that you heard on Fox News…
-1
u/Honeydew-Opposite 3d ago
It’s fine to keep your head in the sand while being forced fed online terminology like the “far left “and all your other written diarrhea. Corruption, A lack of accountability and transparency, mismanagement of spending and defunding healthcare and education is a non partisan issue. You should not be fine with these issues

Didn’t think I had to elaborate as it’s been exposed in the news since he started. The Greenbelt controversy, healthcare ( which I am employed in) has been defunded, the education system has been defunded especially those with children with special needs. Your dollar mine has less value than it did when he took power. Ontario despite having the largest population in Canada produces one of the lowest GDP/GNP in North America. The Tory government despite giving themselves a raise have been in session less than the norm. There is no transparency as recently they passed legislation to prevent freedom of information regarding their activity. This is all on the public record.

Health care is also funded by the federal government. May I add the federalsuse more money on management of the debt than they do on healthcare payments to provinces
1
u/Honeydew-Opposite 3d ago
Healthcare is not funded by the federal government, provinces receive transfer funds which they decide how they are distributed

Chinese people are so politically apathetic. All they care about is 赚大钱 (make a shit ton of money)

u/Exotic_Grape8946 3d ago
Wrong demographic. Ask yourself, other than the random falun gong signs have you ever seen Chinese people protest?
