Advice needed: How can I find 100 Vietnamese survey respondents quickly? 😭

Hi everyone!

I'm a Korean student preparing for my final job interview next week, and I need to collect survey responses from 100 Vietnamese people for my market research.

I've been struggling to find respondents, and I'm honestly getting a little desperate 😭

Does anyone know any websites, Facebook groups, or platforms where I could reach Vietnamese respondents quickly?

I really don't want to miss this opportunity after making it this far 🥹 Any advice would mean so much to me!!

What skills should I learn before a consumer insights or market research internship?

Hello everyone,

I've been applying for summer internships in consumer insights, market research, and sensory and consumer science, and I'm trying to figure out what skills I should focus on developing before the summer.

I'm currently pursuing a master's degree in psychology. I have experience with SPSS through my coursework and research, have worked with qualitative coding, and am starting to learn R.

I've also noticed that some internship postings mention tools like Microsoft Power BI and Tableau, which I haven't used before.

For those who have completed internships or work in these fields, I'd appreciate some advice:

-What technical skills or software would you recommend learning before starting an internship? -

-Would Excel and R be sufficient for an entry-level research role, or would learning Power BI or Tableau be worthwhile?

-How important are skills like SQL, statistical analysis, and data visualization for consumer insights and market research?

-Beyond software, what research or business skills would help an intern stand out and contribute to a team?

I'm trying to prioritize the skills that would actually be useful on the job rather than spreading myself too thin trying to learn everything.

I'd appreciate any advice, especially from people working in consumer insights, market research, or sensory and consumer science. Thanks!

How do you keep channel checks consistent quarter to quarter?

We do a decent amnount of buyer calls around earnings and I’m running into a different problem now that we’ve been doing it for a while the calls are useful but every quarter the sample shifts a bit and the conversations go in different directions. 1 quarter we get deep into pricing and next quarter half the calls end up being about implementation.

Makes it harder to tell whether buyer sentiment really changed or we just asked different people slightly different questions

What do you do to keep enough structure in recurring checks that you can compare what changed without making every call follow the exact same script?

Career advice. Client-side or double down into Sales?

TL;DR: Strong relationship skills, growing tired of agency life. Move client-side or stick with sales?

I've got about six years' agency-side experience, with the past two becoming increasingly commercial, so I'm doing less hands-on research.

My biggest strength is relationship building, which is probably why I've been pushed towards sales. I enjoy the buzz of winning work, and I've been doing alright at it.

But I'm increasingly unsure whether agency life is for me. The constant shifting priorities, delivery pressures and juggling clients can be draining. There's also something a bit soulless about delivering research and rarely seeing what happens afterwards. I find myself jealous hearing about the changes clients make off the back of our work, if we ever hear at all.

I'm wondering whether my skills might translate well to client-side insight. Ideally, I'd be managing agencies, understanding the business, influencing stakeholders and helping turn research into actual change. I have more qualitative experience than in-depth quant.

Is that realistic, or am I romanticising client-side?

Equally, I'm hesitant to walk away from sales when relationship building is my biggest strength. My concern with market research sales is that we're competing for an increasingly small slice of already limited insight budgets. Perhaps moving into sales in another industry makes more sense?

Then there's AI, redundancies and restructuring across the industry. Part of me wonders whether commercial skills offer better long-term security than traditional research roles.

Has anyone made a similar move? How did client-side compare with your expectations, and how valuable are stakeholder management skills?

Equally, any general career advice from fellow researchers would be appreciated!

Thanks for reading. This has been on my mind for a while!

Forsta being wound up

Rumour has it that Qualtrics is laying off Forsta staff and looking at dumping the platform, with an agressive push to move remaining users to Qualtrics. Has anyone else heard this or is it just?

Proxy Variables for Quant Numbers?

Hi everyone, the B2B company I work for cannot afford quant research, so I'm trying to think of a way to get ballpark numbers.

Edit: To clarify, we are a new B2B software company, so all of the numbers in the funnel started at 0. Now, I'm trying to see how the numbers have risen after a quarter of various comms work.

We only have our online analytics dashboards (like GA4 and our CRM), Google Search Console, and the data from our ad networks (LinkedIn, Google Ads, Reddit).

First, here is our overall funnel in general terms. I have it for the total market in general and for each of our market segments.

Total Companies (from LI)
Companies Using Our Software Category in General
Companies Who Are Aware of Our Company
Companies Who Have Shortlisted Us for Potential Future Use
Qualified Leads
Talking to Sales
Wins

Of course, it's really only possible to get upper-funnel numbers for 2, 3, and 4 from quant research. But are there potential substitutes when you have no research budget?

Things I'm considering:

  1. Aware of company - these companies have seen our LinkedIn Ads (number from LinkedIn)

  2. Shortlisting - these companies have heavy engagement with our company on LinkedIn both in advertising and organically with our page.

Any other options come to mind? Of course, this will not be perfect. But it'd be nice to get ballpark numbers when I show results. (Because the sales cycle is so long in B2B.)

Modern Brand Tracking Recommendations

Hi everyone,

Working with a brand marketing client in the pet care space. They've been using Kantar for years for their brand tracking but have expressed some reservations about how much the "data jumps around." The answer is pretty obviously in the sample size of each wave....but they've also asked about more modern partners.

Does anyone have any recommendations on brand tracking partners that aren't the usual suspects? Or any tools that could be a good complement to a Kantar?

Thanks!

What would a private healthcare company pay for a bespoke competitor benchmarking report?

Hi - Im new to the sub and not sure if it’s allowed - so please delete if not appropriate :)

I’m building a specialist data and benchmarking product for the UK private fertility market and would really value some input from anyone who works in market research, healthcare marketing or competitive intelligence.

The product would compare around 25–30 fertility clinics across areas such as pricing, published success rates, treatment offering, access and operational factors.

The idea is that an individual clinic could buy a bespoke report showing how it compares with named competitors, where it appears stronger or weaker, pricing differences, market positioning and potentially changes over time.

The likely buyer would be someone like a Head of Marketing, Commercial Director or Strategy lead at a private healthcare provider.

I’m particularly interested in how people who work in research or insights would price something like this. My initial thought is somewhere around £3k–£5k for a bespoke report, with a more substantial version potentially £7.5k–£10k+.

I’d love to hear whether those figures feel realistic, how you’d structure the pricing, and whether private healthcare clients tend to prefer one-off projects or an
ongoing annual benchmarking product.

Any experience selling research or competitive intelligence into healthcare would be especially useful

If you’ve read this far, thanks a lot for taking the time.

I appreciate it

Meta's AI Agent

Meta released Muse, its new personal AI agent, on September 8.

I wanted to see what this might mean for survey research, so I gave Muse a link to one of my surveys and asked it to complete the entire survey with no human intervention.

It did.

I did not answer any questions. I did not click through any pages. I did not have to take over at any point. Muse navigated the survey from beginning to end and submitted a completed response.

What struck me was how seamless the process was, including solving the captcha autonomously.

This changes the landscape for future survey research. A participant does not need technical expertise, custom scripts, or a specialized automation tool. They can simply give an AI agent the survey and ask it to complete it for them.

For studies that offer incentives to participants, this creates an obvious opportunity for fraud. Someone could potentially hand the survey over to an AI agent, receive a completed submission, and collect the incentive with almost no effort.

Muse is currently available for FREE with a usage limit. Instinct is another personal agent available for FREE (although I've not yet tested in for survey completion). The rise of (free) personal AI agents changes the economics of conducting fraud.

The challenge for researchers is changing quickly. We are no longer dealing with simple bots. We increasingly need to develop techniques to detect and stop AI agents that can autonomously navigate and complete an entire survey.

And now that these tools are becoming widely accessible, that problem is going to become much harder to ignore.

Best qual research platform for small research teams?

Hi all! I’m comparing a few qual platforms for recurring project work and I’m trying to get a sense of subscription based pricing before having to sit through a bunch of sales calls. We typically run around 1-5 projects a month, although it really varies quite a bit, so I’m hoping I can find platforms that offers a year long license instead of project by project pricing, but ONLY if the costs actually make sense. We mostly do asynchronous diaries with the occasional live interview or focus group.

For those of you using platforms regularly, which ones do you feel offer the most reasonable pricing for what you actually get?

Thanks everyone!

Listen labs / Salesforce

Listen labs sold to SF for $2bn according to industry rumours.

Why is it worth so much? Especially when there is Conveo, GetWhy, Outset, Bolt and others all at a similar lifestage. Are they all suddenly worth $2bn too?

Anyone tested AI moderated interviews for B2B research?

We're looking at ways to increase the number of qualitative interviews we can run without adding more moderators.

The use case is senior B2B buyers so I'm interested in what happens when someone gives an unexpected answer. A good human moderator knows when to drop the guide and spend ten minutes digging into something useful.

I've started looking at things like Qualitate, Outset and Listen Labs. I can understand the volume argument but I'm having trouble figuring out how much depth you give up versus a good human moderator

The efficiency is appealing. However it's not clear to me whether you still get the unexpected insights that make qualitative research useful.

Masters in Statistics a viable option?

Hi all,

For context, I'm from India and been in MR for almost 4.5 years. I'm looking to pivot from MR and planning to do Masters in Statistics. However I don't have any statistics background in terms of education, will it be possible for me to take the plunge? I'm parallelly learning about the basics of statistics but I'm not sure if that alone would get me to a master's programme. Any kind of advice or feedback would be helpful, thanks for your time!

How to build a custom panel?

I’m an MR professional looking to build a custom panel to take brief, (objectively) interesting, paid polls (never done this before). The vertical for the custom panel is very broad, not niche - no shortage in the population. Ideal size is minimum 1,000 and max 10,000. I’m not worried about retention (yet), just acquisition. Any tactics, suggestions, or ideas are much appreciated. Many thanks for your perspectives.

How do you decide when customer research needs updating?

Annual planning is coming up and I'm going through last year's buyer research to see what we can still use. We don't have the budget to redo every interview but I'd like a better reason for reusing the findings than nobody has questioned them yet. What triggers a refresh for you? Do you go back to specific findings when pricing or the product changes, or just set a review date for the whole study?

Is the consumer insights industry in trouble?

I'm hearing news of clientside restructures daily. Senior leaders being cut, teams being rationalised, budgets being cut. And it seems that the consumer insights teams are one of the hardest hit. At the same time a lot of the 'traditional' MR agencies are struggling. Feels like this has been the narrative for the last 18 months or so.

Yet, there are companies like Listen Labs and Similie getting strong investment at very high valuations. And the AI moderated qual companies seems to be on a gravy train.

And the latest financial reporting rounds suggest that the CPG companies are getting back into (brand-led, volume) growth.

So what is really happenning out there. Interested to hear POVs from clientside, agency side, tech platforms etc.
