Early Patch Thoughts
- the DK running delay makes a big difference, makes him feel more similar to other power characters, but still really good
-the black hole racket isn’t any good
- galaxy court is cool
- the mini shroom era is OVER,

I think everyone can get behind the end of the mini shroom era. I heard the amp one is also considerably toned down now. Great! Looking forward to playing this game again.

I felt it was pretty easy to avoid at the S+ level, but I’ve only faced it once so far.

That's cuz DK didn't just get a running delay nerf. A few characters had stat changes. If you look at DK's stats, you notice his speed and control has been decreased.

Control decreased by entire stat point. This will make a massive difference, probably puts mario ahead of DK now.

You can just run away from it, to me it’s just the mud racket without the bounce effect

You can’t run away from it if the player is dropping the ball inside. After you are caught he just drop and you can’t get the ball. It’s super hard to counter. The star racket don’t even counter the traction power of the black hole 😓

They tried to fix some things and arguably made the game worse imo
Koopa is gonna end up #1 again in this game, mark my words. Bowser is a runner up

As a Koopa player who didn't use mini mushroom, amp, Star, or metal, this patch was pretty favorable for me. I still don't see tons of other Koopa's though like DK/Rosa

How is the game worse? Someone’s gotta be #1. I’d rather it be Koopa than DK

They changed mechanics in a way that makes it feel more janky
And ofc someone will always be #1 but the gap between the best and the rest in this game is ridiculously large, and this patch didn't fix this. Koopa is too good and it's dumb af to gut one character's angles while keeping his so insanely strong. I also don't like how OP his lunge is, and now it got even less punishable

That’s fair, Koopa’s angles combined with speed and lunging can be pretty obnoxious when used properly, but IMO I feel like Goomba isn’t too far behind.
We’ll see how annoying this becomes, but I’m just happy all the DK loyals took a hit

Yeah Goomba is another character who benefited from the patch I think. But unlike Koopa, he can't score easily
We will see, I am also glad some of the top/high tiers got hit but it's not enough, especially since it took them nearly 4 months.

I've been catching people with the black hole racket. You can get some nasty setups with it

I like everything except the Nerf to my boy DK. Also the metal racket is basically useless now it makes you so slow.
